Zayn knew why he made Liam say those words. He knew why he would nip and claw and pound into Liam, leaving him a complete unraveling mess. It was to satisfy what he truly wanted. Those words made Zayn feel better about what he was doing. They made him feel less guilty. Hearing Liam say those words made him think that everything when okay, even though it really wasn’t. I am your toy, Zayn. Those words replaced what should have been said during those moments of passion and lust. They replaced the words, I love you.

Zayn would dream about that, actually saying those three little words and holding Liam tightly against his body in a way that he had never been able to before. Because he did love Liam, but there was nothing more he could do about. He had to be straight. He couldn’t flip his world upside down just because of a crush. Plus, there was someone else starting to catch his eye.

            Niall.

The small and giggly blonde had come into his world like a bright light, adding even more happiness to his days. Niall was always joyful and adorable, acting as though nothing in the world could go wrong. Unless he was around Zayn however, then he was nervous. Zayn thought that Niall had a crush on him too, which pushed him to be even more flirtatious. But Zayn didn’t know what he was planning to do. There was no way he could break Liam by throwing him aside and using Niall as his new toy. But what else was there to do? He couldn’t do anything, unless he was willing to change another aspect of his life. And right now, with everyone running around in  the palm of his hand, he didn’t want to change anything.

When Friday night came along, so did the team party. It was being held at Ed’s house, which was huge, three levels and even a pool out back. Lucky enough for the boys, no parents were present either.

When Zayn arrived—twenty minutes late of course—the house was pounding with bass and overflowing with people. Everyone on the team must have invited at least ten other people, and Zayn couldn’t help but to smile, the more people there, the less obvious it would be when Zayn pulled Liam into one of the bedrooms.

“Zayn!” Ed called, his ginger hair sticking up in all directions, “Come inside!”

Zayn smiled and hopped out of his car, walking up and into the house, pushing past people to get to Ed, “Hey mate,”

“Hey,” Ed smiled, “You should come and dance. Perrie is already here, I think she’s waiting for you by the drinks,” his hand extended, pointing to the table full of beer bottles and red plastic cups.

“Thanks,” Zayn nodded, heading in that direction, but never really intending to find his ‘girlfriend’. Instead he was searching through the crowd for two people, the little blonde or his brown eyed toy.

“Zayn,” A female voice purred in his ear. Zayn wanted to groan, because he didn’t want to deal with Perrie right now. But, he had to play the game.

“Hey, babe,” Zayn said, kissing her cheek and wrapping an arm around her waist, “What have I missed?”

Perrie launched into story after story, and Zayn wasn’t really listening. He was still scanning the crowd with his golden orbs. “And then Paul asked me….” That’s when Zayn saw him. Liam. Sitting in the corner of the room alone, his head set on his hands. His heart began to pound. Liam was the only one who could ever make Zayn feel like this. He bit his lip and looked at Perrie.

“Hey, love,” He said, “I’m going to go socialize a bit with the team, do you mind?”

“Of course,” She smiled, kissed his cheek.
