𝘩𝘪 𝘨𝘶𝘺𝘴 !
i'm finally back after a really busy week. as u can see this chapter is about stopping your phone addiction in case you have one. and we all must admit we're on our phone quite a lot - texting, watching youtube/ tik tok/ instagram, etc - that's what we do daily for who knows how long.
i decided to write a chapter about stopping that. and i just wanna mention that stopping your phone addiction doesn't mean to not use your phone at all because sometimes we do need our phone. but anyways let's get into this chapter!
───────────────────────────────────
1. establish the problem
before you start of course you have to know what the main problem is. you should find out what app you use the most or how long. i recommend to track your usage through screen time apps or maybe your phone has that system already. also, you should understand why you use your phone, maybe you're stressed, bored, it's a habit or maybe you have the urge to answer all your text messages. whatever it is, it would be advantageous to limit the usage of your phone.
2. set goals
just because we want to stop this addiction, doesn't mean we are gonna success right away. the best thing would be to set specific goals for example: only 2 hours tik tok a day, don't use your phone in the morning/ at night, ...
i recommend to set timers, it really helps. i've recently tried out the instagram setting which has a sleep mode and time limit. it's amazing since i'm the person to use my phone out of boredom. so i'm just like scrolling and scrolling until it pops up „limit reached" and it makes me think „oh, i still have this and that to do i should start now" and then i just leave my phone behind and go study. the best thing is that i don't have any other apps to use so when i open my phone i'm like „what can i even do here?".
and the do not disturb feature is helpful as well!
3. phone free environment
this is what i saw on insta and i think it could be really useful. so basically, you keep your phone away from places like the dining table or study area. and since you may won't have anything to do there without you're phone you can just place books, magazines, pencils or anything else in that room so you have other hobbies to do. i haven't really tried it out but my books are anywhere anyways 🤭
4. set boundaries
unfollow unnecessary accounts, delete apps you don't use or don't seem to be necessary and set times where you are allowed to check your social media for a bit.
5. regular breaks
decide on specific days or times of the day where you won't use your phone. you can also have a day in the week where you won't use your phone at all or maybe even for more than a day.
6. what to do without your phone
maybe, you don't have a lot of hobbies and that's why you usually use your phone. in the following i will list a few examples on hobbies and activities you could try out!
• go on a walk
• photography
• DIY crafts
• wake up early/ stay up late to watch the sunrise/ sunset
• read a book/ magazine/ poetry
• cook or bake
• journal
• create a vision board
• have a karaoke night
• clean your room
• work out
• try out a new make-up look
• get your nails done
• crochet/sew
• have a movie marathon
• go shopping
• ...
these must be enough ideas but if you don't like any of them you can search for other hobbies on pinterest ;)
7. reminders
it can take some time to stop this addiction and it's no problem at all! be patient and be happy even if you improved just a little bit!
───────────────────────────────────
that's it! i tried to make this chapter a little bit shorter than the other since it was really long.. i hope you liked it<3
