A/N - We are quickly approaching the 5th anniversary of me starting this series, so around this time of year I always get nostalgic for Elise and this year. So tonight I'm giving you a two-fer chapter! Merry early Christmas!
"I've got it all piped up to the scaffolding outside," Frank said.
"Come here, Frank. Just sit in the middle and don't touch anything metal," Martha told him.
"Okay."
The elevator opened just as a bolt of lightning hit the scaffolding.
"You guys did it!" Tallulah said.
"They used to be like Laszlo. They were people, and I killed them," Martha said.
Elise patted her arm.
"No, the Daleks killed them. Long ago," Laszlo told her.
"What about the Doctor?" Martha asked.
Martha and Elise ran to find the Doctor.
As they were making their way up, Elise spotted his sonic screwdriver.
"Doctor! Doctor?" Martha called.
The Doctor was unconscious lying next to the mast.
Elise put her hands on his neck, checking for a pulse.
"Look what we found halfway down. You're getting careless."
"Oh my head," he groaned.
"Hiya," Martha said.
"Hi. You survived, then."
"So did you, just about. I can't help noticing there's Dalekanium still attached."
"Elle, where's Elle?"
Elise moved into his field of vision.
"Hi."
Elise smiled. "Hi."
They made their way back down to the main floor.
"The Daleks will have gone straight to a war footing. They'll be using the sewers, spreading the soldiers out underneath Manhattan," the Doctor said.
"How do we stop them?" Laszlo asked.
"There's only one chance. I got in the way. That gamma strike went zapping though me first."
"Yeah, but what does that mean?" Martha asked.
"We need to draw fire. Before they can attack New York, I need to face them. Where can I draw them out? Think, think, think, think, think. We need some sort of space. Somewhere safe. Somewhere out of the way. Tallulah!"
"That's me. Three Ls and an H," Tallulah said.
"The theatre! It's right above them, and, what, it's gone midnight? Can you get us inside?"
"Don't see why not."
"Is there another lift?"
"We came up in the service elevator," Martha told him.
"That'll do. Allons-y!"
They headed for the service elevator.
Before they got on, the Doctor turned to Elise. "I'm sorry I didn't listen to you. I wanted to believe that things could be better."
Elise smiled. "Make it up to me later."
