Mornings were very busy now without Mama, so I barely have time to write, but Eddie's resting now so I have a little time.

Papa's socks need darning and I'll need new shoes for the fall. I won't be able to go to school this year, so I'm dreadfully afraid of my falling behind. Perhaps I could ask Papa for a workbook so I can keep up on my studies.

At least I still have King to keep me company. And what a wonderful companion he was.

I hear the baby stirring, so I must go. Goodbye for now.
