What does someone do with their life when living in a world of Herbivore and Carnivore anthropology? A world that - while thriving in this modern era - is still often rule by instinct and prejudice.
On top of that, where...
"A man's daughter is his heart. Just with feet, walking out in the world. " — Mat Johnson. ——————————————————————
At the crack of first dawn, Zanny stirred awake from his slumber.
The human groans while placing a hand over his own face - trying to block the sunlight that snuck through the window curtains. He rose from the bed and threw his legs over the side. The room was mostly dimly lit by the sunlight alone as Zanny made way to the bathroom. Flipping a switch, a light comes on and the man stares at the reflection looking back at him.
Before him was a scared body of a man who's been through hell.

He was layered in fibrous tissues from both front & back. Scars upon scars that disclose various stories of struggles and dangers, a sight that can be described as disturbing. Zanny could remember each scenario of every scar he's ever gotten. From the stabs to the gun shots... the human had it all categories in his own mind. After a moment of reflection, he moves on to the shower and turns the water on.
Allowing the water to warm up, the man strips himself of his shorts and underwear before stepping into the shower. Immediately Zanny dunk himself underneath the running douse as it washed over his head then down his body. A small sigh escaped his lips, feeling himself relax underneath the warm sensation.
He proceeded to wash himself, grabbing a bar of soap and starting to scrub himself head to toe. Once scrubbed - he goes for the shampoo and conditioner to wash his hair while digging in there with his fingernails. After making sure he'd covered every inch of his body, the human washes it all away. Soap, shampoo and conditioner was rinsed clean from his figure.
Turning off the water and a quick towel down later, Zanny moves back into his bedroom to gather up some clothes. Soon the human was dressed in a simple attire that consisted of a plain shirt, zipped up jacket, slightly ripped shorts, and running shoes. Now clothed, Zanny makes his way to his apartment's front door while reaching for the nob. Out the door – closing it behind him – and beginning his daily run of 14 miles to get himself warmed up for today. Starting from his apartment, the human starts jogging down the sidewalk pavement while passing bystanders.
Of course he gets the usual glance or stare since he is a human in an animal city.
There weren't many humans that interact with the animal society, most of their kind like to live separately. It wasn't out of fear or malicious — humans just valued their own privacy and wanted to avoid being dragged into any unnecessary confrontation with animals. However there are the rare occasions that some humans would take the opportunity to live and interact with said animals.
Zanny can to a halt at an intersection while pressing the crosswalk button on the traffic light. While waiting for the sign to change, he took the moment to stretch his legs. Soon enough the light shifted and Zanny continued his run while giving a wave to the cars that had stopped at the crosswalk. He didn't turn to glance to see if the drivers responded to his gesture, but if he did, Zanny would've seen a small doe pointing at him excitedly with her mother in the driving city.
