(This one is gonna be a little spicy. They aren't actually doing anything. They just talk about it. I originally wanted the kids to see Tim's todo's but that would have ended up with someone being pissed...so this is the finished version. Hope you like it.)
The Bradford household ran like a well-oiled machine, thanks to their prized possession: the digital family calendar. Mounted on the kitchen wall, the sleek touch screen showed everything from doctor's appointments to soccer practices, and even reminders for the kids to do their chores.
Every morning, the kids would crowd around the screen as Lucy or Tim reviewed the day. The kids loved seeing their names pop up, even if they didn't fully understand half of it.
At 8 years old, Tayden loved being the "responsible" older brother who pretended to understand everything. Ethan, at 7, stood next to him, arms crossed like a mini-adult. The twins, Oliver and William, bickered over whose practice would happen first, while 4-year-old Alexander poked the screen repeatedly, trying to make it beep. Eliana, at 3, sat in her high chair already munching on some pancakes, not too interested in the fuss but happy to giggle whenever her brothers did.
The kids finally settled at the table, munching on their pancakes while chattering about their plans for the day. Tayden was busy explaining how he was practically the quarterback of his peewee football team (he wasn't), while Oliver and William debated who had the cooler practice.
"You just do flips, Oliver. Soccer actually takes skill," William argued, stabbing his pancake with a fork.
"Flips are skill!" Oliver shot back.
"Boys," Lucy warned as she handed Eliana another pancake. That one word was enough to make the twins fall into a tense but temporary silence.
Tim stood by the stove, flipping the last batch of pancakes while sipping his coffee. He'd just synced his phone to the family calendar and added a few... personal touches. He glanced at Lucy, wondering how long it would take her to notice.
As if on cue, Lucy wiped her hands on a dish towel and grabbed her phone from the counter, pulling up the shared calendar app. She scrolled through the day's agenda, nodding approvingly as she saw items already checked off.
"Grocery shopping, Doctor's appointments, check. Pick up William's new cleats, done that yesterday." Her expression was calm, focused—at first.
Then she froze. Her eyebrows shot up, and her lips pressed into a thin line. Slowly, her head lifted, and she turned to look at Tim.
Tim, who had just plated the last pancake, caught the look and immediately knew.
"What?" he asked, feigning innocence.
Lucy didn't answer. She just tilted her phone slightly so he could see the screen.
