Fix It - Toya Comes Home

A fix it - Shoto looks up in the middle of training to see Toya, he starts to think he is dying. When he calls out to him, Toya rushes in after his little brother to stop Enji from continuing the abuse.

He needed to see his family, there was so much he thought about asking them at that moment. He didn't know why they didn't want to let him go, he would rather die than stay there one more moment. He needed to make sure his family knew he wasn't actually dead, he needed to make sure they knew he was okay.

The track home hurt, his body shook and all he could think about was seeing his dads face. His moms.

The gates to the Todoroki home almost seemed to loom over him, questioning his resolve. Could he go inside? Should he go inside?

He had to, didn't he?

He wanted to see his family, and he was almost sure they wanted to see him.

He wanted to try for a somewhat normal life, he still had so much optimism. Yes he was behind in school now but maybe they would make an exception for him because he was 'dead' after all.

He stalked forward, pushing the gates open. He didn't know where they would all be, but if he knew his dad and if Shoto continued to show promise they would likely be training.

Toya bit his lip, he wasn't sure if he wanted to see the training happening but he wanted to see his brother and father.

Toya kept walking till he heard what sounded like shouting. Toya stood in the doorway, his eyes wide as he watched his father slam a fist into Shoto's stomach.

"No! Do it again, you're not doing it right."

Shoto's body shuddered as he cried, he looked up at his father then towards the doorway. His tear filled eyes widened. "Toya?!"

Shoto wondered if he was dying then, if he was seeing his brother he was almost positive he was dead. He hadn't even made it to Toya's age when he died, but he honestly felt death may be better than enduring his fathers wrath.

Enji furrowed his brow. "Don't try to change the subject Shoto, Toya is gone... You should fight to carry his legacy, do what he was training to do. He didn't give up even when I told him he should stop. Now get up!"

Enji kicked one of Shoto's knees, causing the child to waver. As he tried to stand, his knees faltered. Enji grunted and went to kick him again before blue flames came between himself and his youngest child.

The pro heroes' eyes widened in surprise. "Yes Shoto, amazing!"

As the flames began to die down, Enji's jaw dropped. Shoto's shaking frame was clinging to a boy, this boy looked so much like Toya. "You will never hit my brother again."

"T-Toya?"

Toya was breathing heavily, holding Shoto tightly. "Never again."

Enji looked him up and down "How are you.... Are you? Are you really here?" Toya was silent as he held Shoto tightly, the boy sobbed into his arms.

"You're my hero big brother..." Shoto whispered as Toya readjusted him so he could hold him tighter and closer. Tears pricked in Toya's eyes as he heard those words, his father told him he could never be a hero before his accident.

"Toya?" Enji dropped to his knees and pulled Toya and Shoto into his arms. "You're alive!"

Toya was stiff, but then he fell into his fathers arms. His grip loosened on Shoto, his father taking on the weight. The three sobbed together.

Enji couldn't believe it, his son was back. His family was whole again, despite the cracks he had created. "That fire was yours?"

"Yes..." Toya whispered softly.

"Where have you been?" Enji asked as he held him tightly to himself. "How?"

Toya tightened his grip on Shoto and his fathers neck. "I don't know all of it... I woke up from a coma at a hospital."

"I can't.. I- I'm just... you're alive my son... Alive!"

Toya and Shoto continued to shake in his arms. They had never seen Enji cry, or show any kind of emotion like this. They only knew anger. "You can't hurt Shoto anymore, or me."

Enji took a deep breath, but he fully understood his concerns. His son was burned heavily, and Shoto was a sobbing mess and it wasn't just because Toya had returned. Enji dropped his head and tightened his arms around his sons. "I'm sorry..." He whispered. Enji finally released his sons, Shoto turned and tightened his arms around Toya.

"Do-don't leave m-me again bi-big brother." Shoto begged as he nearly strangled Toya trying to tighten his grip.

"Hey... I-I won't..."

Shoto kept crying, he tried to cling to him, tightening his grip on Toya's shirt. "Please... I-I don't want you to go again... I n-need you..."

Toya looked to his father and then back down to Shoto, who felt so tiny in his arms. "I won't.. I won't ever leave again..." He looked up at his father, who stood and stepped back. "I'm never leaving again. I'll become a hero with you, right Shoto."

"Right.."

"We can train together."

"Son..."

"I will train with my brother, and I will keep him safe. Make sure he never goes through what I did, and make sure you can't hurt him anymore. Shoto's ice can help me cool down."

Shoto nodded, he didn't ever want to use his fire again but if Toya needed his help with the ice, he would happily give it. Enji was still crying, but he was trying to stay strong. He didn't want to have his children see him like this. He was supposed to be the strongest man around, specifically to them. Toya dropped to his knees and cupped Shoto's face in his hands. "You're going to be okay little brother. I'm here."

Shoto kept crying, trying to rub his eyes to stop himself from sobbing any more. "Just like All Might." Shoto whispered in his brother's ear.

"Just like a hero." Toya whispered back. He let go of Shoto's face and pulled him into his arms once more and looked up to his father with narrowed eyes. "Heroes protect, they don't abuse."

Enji lowered his head, his children were both stronger than himself. They were right and he could only hope to do better as they grew. He didn't even know how to tell Rei their son was actually alive, but he wanted to see her smile again. Enji took a few more steps forward, and wrapped his arms around them again. "I will become the hero you both deserve... No, the father you deserve."
