"You wouldn't happen to have any adult beverages hidden away in this place, would you?" Cana asked.
"This is my house, ya know!" I exclaimed with wide eyes.
Although I was originally shocked and upset that Cana would show up in my bath uninvited, the irritation didn't last long. A few minutes later, Cana and I were in the bathtub together. I couldn't help but notice that she was looking bummed. "I wonder what's up with Cana," I thought to myself. "She seems a bit off." When she sighed drearily, I was sure that something was wrong.
"What's up? Is something bothering you?"I asked, worried. After some playful banter, and some talk of my dad, Cana told me what was on her mind.
She stood up and said, "Alright then: I've been seriously considering quitting the guild." Once I'd gotten over the initial shock of seeing Cana naked above water, her words really sunk in.
"WHAT?!?!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. I'd never realized how much I valued Cana, but the thought of not having that drunk, half-naked brunette in the guild was suddenly overwhelmingly sad. "Since when am I so close to Cana?" I asked myself. "And why would she leave Fairy Tail anyway?"

The following evening as I was walking home, I thought about Cana quitting the guild. Although Mirajane had told me not to worry, that she always said things like that around this time of year, I couldn't help but be concerned. Nevertheless, I did enjoy the snow.
As I was appreciating the new weather, I saw something quite concerning. Cana was passed out drunk in an alleyway!

Later that night, at my apartment, Cana and I had a little chat. She explained in tears why she so desperately wanted to make S-Class. Gildarts was her frigging dad, and Cana didn't want to tell him she was his daughter until she made S-Class. After four failed attempts, Cana decided that if she failed the trial this year, she was leaving the guild.
"I have to be an S-Class wizard, or I'll never be able to look him in the eye." Right then and there, I decided I'd be Cana's partner. My eyes teared up as I imagined the pain she must feel, how much it would hurt to have Gildarts not know he was her father. How alone Cana must have felt growing up, with her only remaining family member -her own father- not knowing that they were even related!
