AN: A quick update, hopefully.
Happy reading!
Percy's hands were lazy on the helm, just nudging it lightly to keep it turning, steering towards their arbitrarily determined destination.
The screen overhead was a very convenient touch in his opinion, their live coordinates as well as the direction they had to go towards displayed on the screen in a 3D projection- though he guessed he didn't really need it. Out on the open ocean, he somehow always knew exactly where they were and where they needed to go- perks of being a child of Poseidon- nevertheless, the screen helped him to laze about, turn his brain off and enjoy the day, the weather and the soothing marine environment.
A can of Monster lay cracked open in the cup holder beside him, and the headphones in his ears playing his black metal mix at just the right volume, loud enough for him to enjoy it, but not so loud that it drowned out the ambient music of the sea. The grey noise of the sea formed a pleasant background haze, the waves only marginally higher than a calm ocean, gently swaying the yacht in her arms like a mother would cradle her newborn, a soothing nostalgic feeling that Percy always missed on land. He wasn't a landlubber, after all, and the sea was his true home, and he felt more comfortable constantly balancing on the precariously swaying deck than he ever did on the most stable of floors.
The vessel wasn't really meant for the open ocean like this, but Percy was there, and he didn't really care too much about it.
Gently nodding his head along with the warbled lyrics of Dimmu Borgir, and resisting the urge to full-on headbang, Percy gently guided the straying yacht towards the right path, his right hand resting on the helm as his left blindly searched for the half-finished can of Monster, craving the rush of caffeine in his veins once more.
His eyes scanned the sea in front of him, the white frothy waves and the endless expanse of a deep, uniform azure that reflected the sky above, even the wispy clouds finding a milky image on the clear water. A few stray seagulls glided lazily into the sky above, their pure white wings indistinguishable from the clouds they blended into, making Percy wonder what they were doing so far from shore. A few cawed shrilly, a sharp sound that sliced through the peaceful ambience of the calm ocean as they came to rest on the railings of the yacht, resting their tired wings as they snapped playfully at their neighbours, making them caw and take flight, only to come back to a perch a few metres away.
The sun was positively blazing, and with little shelter offered by the open sun deck, save for the few umbrellas the girls had bought with them, it was horribly hot. Even the bridge was hot and stuffy, a pleasant kind of stuffiness that made Percy sweat out all his stress, prompting him to wear what he was wearing- just a pair of loose, dull olive green Bermuda shorts. His skin, tanned a perfect shade of bronze and littered with battle scars that told silent tales of his heroics, glistened with a uniform sheen of sweat, the dog tags hanging around his neck sticking to his skin. His tattoos, dark ink against a bronze background, glistened with a sharp contrast, his long raven hair tied in a messy bun to keep it from dripping sweat into his eyes.
A nice breeze, briny and cool, whipped through the bridge, mostly open to the elements, bringing with it a nice stinging sensation not too unlike a soothing lotion of menthol, making him sigh in contentment and breathe in the fresh air deeply. This was it, he was home.
Percy reclined into the leather seat, taking a sip from his Monster drink, feeling the sugar and the sweet fizz hit his tongue like nectar as he surveyed the sundeck like he was a king, watching over his subjects.
Half of the sundeck was visible to him, the proximal half being hidden underneath the bridge and thus out of sight. The pool was a beautiful clear blue, sparkling beautifully like something out of a postcard and looking enticingly cool as it reflected the sunlight as if it were filled with a thousand diamonds. His girls, exhausted as they were from the heat, but in high spirits that could barely be dampened, flocked around the pool like bees to a flower laden heavy with nectar, their bodies laid almost bare save for small shorts and skimpy tank tops over sexy bikinis. Artemis was adorably bobbing about in the middle of the pool with a red floatie underneath her, mirrored by Thalia with a green one.
