Ivory was the first to move. Not physically, but a ripple of distortion warped the air around her. She was calling upon her power, the terrifying ability to create miniature black holes. Tiny singularities, each capable of crushing existence to nothingness, began to bloom in the space around her, swirling like dark roses.
The tiny black holes began to move, drawn towards you like moths to a dying flame. Ivory, using her control, was attempting to use the wind as a funnel, compressing it into the singularities, increasing their destructive potential.
She sent the black hole at full speed, but you deflected it with a tornado, sending it back to Ivory.
"An interesting team, I should say." Ivory said while clicking her fingers, making the black holes disappear. "Mind control and wind. A clever pairing."
Chishiya offered a thin smile, a flicker of amusement in his eyes.
"And you, Ivory? Raw power versus nuance. A classic confrontation." Chishiya fired back, causing Ivory to narrow her eyes.
You made your move, a whirlwind erupted. A shimmering vortex of air that howled as it charged towards Ivory. It wasn't just wind; it was a focused torrent, laced with the promise of concussive force.
Ivory didn't flinch. With a deliberate flick of her wrist, a pinprick of darkness appeared in front of them. It grew, impossibly, rapidly, until a miniature black hole hung suspended. The whirlwind slammed into it, not with a bang, but with a muted screech as the air itself, the particles that composed the wind, were drawn into the singularity.
"Impressive," Chishiya murmured, his eyes glued to the black hole.
He could feel the subtle pull, the insidious threat. He was already impressed that Ivory could create multiple black holes that trapped people in it and now Ivory don't seemed drained using magic auras from summoning many black holes.
Chishiya knew he couldn't allow Ivory to summon another one otherwise the game would be over. That was his cue.
Subtlety was key. He focused, reaching out with his mental tendrils, probing Ivory's mind. He found the familiar resistance, the fortified walls built to keep him out, but he pressed on, searching for weaknesses, for the cracks in the armor.
It wasn't about complete control; it was about planting a seed of doubt, a flicker of hesitation, a moment of distraction.
Ivory barely noticed the intrusion. She was already preparing her next attack, focusing on the swirling chaos around the black hole. But a flicker of unease passed through them, a fleeting thought that seemed to come from nowhere.
'Is this the right move?' She thought.
That tiny seed was all Chishiya needed. He amplified it, nurtured it until it blossomed into a full-blown wave of self-doubt. He didn't try to control Ivory's actions; he just muddied their thinking, forcing them to second-guess themselves.
Meanwhile, you were thinking of new tactics. Instead of a direct assault, you manipulated the ambient air, creating pockets of low pressure, sudden gusts that buffeted Ivory from unexpected angles. The wind became a dancing tormentor, a frustrating distraction.
Ivory, already struggling with Chishiya's mental interference, lashed out. The black hole, initially meant to be a defensive measure, became a weapon. She flung it towards you, a desperate act of frustration.
Chishiya saw his opportunity. With Ivory's focus divided between you and her own internal turmoil, Chishiya intensified his mental assault. He didn't try to break down Ivory's defenses completely, but he hammered at the cracks, exploiting her vulnerability. He fed Ivory's doubts, amplified her fears, and pushed her to the brink of collapse.
You, seeing the incoming black hole, reacted instinctively. You channeled your power, not into a direct counterattack, but into a shield. A wall of compressed air, so dense it shimmered like glass, slammed into the black hole.
The pressure was immense. The air shield groaned, buckling under the strain. But you held firm, your face contorted in concentration. You were pushing past your limits, knowing that if your defense faltered, then you will have to use other magic power.
And then, it happened.
Ivory, overwhelmed by Chishiya's mental assault faltered, making her control wavered. The black hole, no longer properly contained, began to expand, threatening to consume everything.
Panic flashed across Ivory's face. She tried to regain control, but it was too late. She never really meant to hurt anyone, she just wants to exhaust you and Chishiya until you both give up.
Chishiya withdrew his mental attack, allowing Ivory to face their fate with clarity. It wasn't about dominance; it was about strategy. He had played his part, and now the consequences would unfold.
You, sensing the shift, released the air shield. The black hole, no longer opposed, imploded in on itself with a deafening roar. The resulting shockwave ripped through the dimension, and an opening was created.
The surrounding broke like a glass, and the black hole crashed into the arena, but Hatter was quick enough to neutralize it before the situation gets worse. You and everyone else who was inside the black hole, suddenly appeared into thin air and fell on the ground.
Chishiya slowly rose to his feet, dusting himself off. He looked at you, extending out his hand and you gradually took it.
"An interesting outcome." He said, a hint of satisfaction in his voice. "Power, without control, is a dangerous thing."
You nodded, a big smile on your face as you celebrated your victory. Right now, you and Chishiya were a team and together, you had overcome a seemingly strong magic user.
You heard the rest of your team grunting in pain as they hit the ground and was impressed as all of Ivory's team were defeated. Only the guy who was left behind that created the screens was left standing, but he quickly put his hands up in defeat.
"Well, that was a weird magic power." Karube was first to spoke while standing up and dusting himself.
"Tell me about it, apparently my weakness is seeing my mom marry a priest. They took advantage of our weakness and attacked us when we were most invulnerable. What a disgusting thing to do." Chota complained.
You saw Kuina staring into a distant, as she'd just seen a ghost. The rest were a bit fine, celebrating their victory.
<<<LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, WE HAVE THE A WINNER! CONGRATULATIONS TO ROTTEN CHEESE TEAM!>>>
The crowd cheered and some of my team screamed in victory. Though you were worried about Kuina so you went to her.
"Are you okay?" You put a hand on her shoulder, and she flinched.
"O-oh, y-ah I'm okay. It's just, I had to fight my mother in this battle. It wasn't a good feeling seeing her die by my hands." Kuina said sadly. "If anything, I wouldn't mind fighting my father, but father, was right, what they did is unacceptable."
Kuina started walking towads Ivory, her magic aura spiking up.
"Kuina, the fight is over!" Chota shouted but she didn't listen.
When Kuina was in front of Ivory, she raised her hand and... took her hand for a handshake.
"You have amazing magic power; it will be a great addition on my collection!" Kuina cheered as she copied Ivory's form.
"Typical Kuina." Chishiya commented.
