You had to say that you were kind of hesitant to ask Lukas about, well, everything. The Wangs were there too to help you out, but you felt like the best option to learns whatever you needed to learn for now should come from the mysterious man himself. It felt super personal to you that Lukas should be able to tell you what you needed to know or what you might've known from before. There was this little voice from the depths of your soul telling you that you needed him to tell you everything or you'll explode from your own personal mental tension. However, you knew that Lukas couldn't exactly tell you everything—not with that awful cough he experienced when he was about to tell you more about the events from a decade ago.

From what you have gathered so far, it was clear that whatever you and Lukas had was real. You needed to know how much attachment there was involved—how deeply involved you were in his life before you ended up with missing memories. The way he looks at you never made you felt uncomfortable, you feel quite safe with him to say the least. But not knowing what there was between the both of you and your missing memories just doesn't fill that gap right. The connection you wanted to make wasn't, well, connecting. Lukas was doing his best to take things slow with you (whatever slow means at this point) while also teaching you a thing or two about the world you had just entered. You still had so much to catch on.

You and Lukas have been in Hong Kong for a week now. The safe haven the Wangs have provided you with was nested deeply with some kind of camoflauge magic. You and Lukas were technically still in the restaurant, but deep inside some kind of layered cover. The best place to hide was truly plain sight because you and Lukas were living in a photo sitting in Yao's office. It was a photo of a modern looking bungalow sitting in the middle of a paddy field—big glass windows, a sunroof by the kitchen side and a dirty kitchen next to it, and a little drive way with a red scooter parked. Inside the bungalow was just as cozy. There were two bedrooms with their own bathrooms, a fully stocked kitchen, a living room that had a flatscreen television framed in a bookshelf filled with tomes and grimoires, and a little room that could be whatever you needed it to be. The safe haven was definitely out of this world.

Coming in and out of the photo was easy. All you had to do was knock three times against the front door from the inside of the house and you were back in the photo. You just have to repeat the same steps coming back in through the door Yao had provided you when you first came here.

Today marks the seventh day of your stay. A couple of days ago Nick finally emails you that she was safe with Mathias and that everything was going to be fine for their end. The rest of the email was a whole breakdown on what was going to happen to her and that they were still going to actively search for you and Lukas. She left an apology as well that she hasn't been honest about her powers in the first place. It did confuse you, yes, but you understood what she's been trying to tell you all this time. Nick has been dropping weird questions about if you have ever encountered any mages or anyone with that sort of power besides magical creatures in the early days you both started working together.

You wanted to send her a reply to say that it was okay and she didn't need to say sorry, but her sign off was:

Don't reply, I'm permanently deleting this email thread just in case they try to check my recent contacts. Halong[1] and lots of love!

It felt lonely not knowing anything. You didn't have anyone else to learn it with and you were used to having Nick around to keep up with your shenanigans. You wanted to ask Leon and Mei about things however they were always busy with whatever they were working on. Yao was very open to answering your questions, and eager at that, though when you tried to find the right timing he was with Lukas. You had time to roam around Hong Kong to make sure that you had your finances and other important adult stuff in check because the world will keep spinning, regardless the situation you were in. You notified your family back in the Netherlands with a little white lie that you might not be back for a while because of a new project. You really hoped that Emma wouldn't read into it.
