047. THE APPLEBONG

Chapter forty seven

"The applebong." 

The boys had piled up the golf cart, as Cam and Conrad were in it, Jeremiah and Steven were on the back, as they were shouting, Diana had the applebong going as she walked in the back with Taylor, Belly and Skye "look, I know that between Conrad and Belly, and then seeing me and Steven, it's a lot because Jeremiah really hurt you. The kind of hurt that just goes away easily. Or like ever." Taylor shared, as Diana breathed in the smoke "then let's make a pact. Leave first love in the past where it belongs." she shared "yes. And by taking a hit from the applebong I promise you." Taylor shared, as she laughed, Diana joined her, handing the applebong over, Taylor breathed in the smoke.

The four of them then made it to the boys seeing as the golf cart had stopped "all right. All right, the thing is officially dead." Jeremiah shared, turning to them "why don't we crash up there for the night?" he asked, pointing to the hill "well, I think that's perfect timing seeing as these two already started the applebong." Skye shared, pointing at Diana and Taylor "great. Let's start unpacking." Jeremiah shared, turning back to the golf cart.

Diana and Taylor headed up the hill, as Skye and Belly followed them, as Belly put a table cloth down, the four of them sat down, Diana hit the applebong again "guys, volleyball camp is in four days." Belly shared, as her and Skye were eating, Diana blew out the smoke "they're not gonna drug test us. I checked coach's email." she shared, handing it to Taylor, as she hit it again "what email?" Belly asked "the one she sent yesterday about camp. I thought you were gonna talk to coach?" Diana asked "um..no, not yet." Belly shared "Belly, wait. Why? I swear to god, if you bail on us again.." Taylor shared, holding the apple out to Diana.

"No, no, no. I'm not bailing. I want to go." Belly shared "okay, well don't tell us. Tell coach." Diana shared, as she hit the applebong again "okay. Okay, I'll text her right now." Belly shared, as Diana handed the apple and lighter to Skye "you know, I..I..I really just don't want to..I don't wanna have a big conversation with her about last season, and, I don't know, I feel like, I just wanna show up ready to play and prove myself on the court." Belly shared "I'd love that. If you didn't crash and burn." Diana shared, reaching out and grabbing her phone "your being ridiculous. Hey, coach, I'm planning to come to camp next weekend. I already talked to my sister and the rest of the team and they're cool with me coming. Can't wait to see you on the court." she shared, hitting send.

"Yeah. That's good, yeah." Belly shared, as Diana tossed her phone back "what's happening over here? Hmm?" Steven asked, dropping snacks down "we playing truth or dare or what?" he asked "all right. Yeah. You in? Um..I dare you to eat the applebong." Belly shared, as Taylor chuckled "no, no, Belly!" Diana voiced, grabbing the apple and lighter from Skye, she stood up "Steven, I swear, I'm gonna hurt you!" she voiced "I am so sorry, Diana." Steven shared, stepping toward's her to take it, Diana kicked her leg up, hitting him in the balls, Steven groaned, falling to his knees, Taylor, Skye and Belly laughed  

As Cam and Conrad walked up with the rest of the food "I warned you!" Diana voiced, taking another hit from the bong "you guys trying to keep playing truth or dare? Conrad?" Cam asked, as Diana sat back down "I'm not playing." Conrad shared "come on, dude." Steven shared "no." Conrad shared "what, you scared?" Jeremiah asked, as he walked up, sitting down "where do you, uh, see yourself in the next ten years?" Cam asked, as Conrad exhaled "here, honestly. Coming back to cousins. Fourth of July barbecues, digging for clams, surfing with Jere.." Conrad shared "making pomegranate margaritas." Belly shared "right, right. I don't know, I just feel like whatever kind of shit you got going on, you just come back here, you forget about it." Conrad shared.

"Come on, man. Nobody's playing truth or dare right. It's either you go big or you go home." Steven shared "agreed. This needs to get way more euphoria. And stop hogging the bong!" Taylor voiced, reaching over and taking it from Diana "okay. Um..i'll give it a whirl." Skye shared "hey!" Steven voiced "okay!" Taylor voiced, as Skye covered their eyes "uh.." they said "what you got?" Taylor asked "Diana. I dare you to, uh, kiss Jeremiah." Skye shared, as Taylor scoffed, Jeremiah looked at Diana "yeah, I, um..I'm not gonna do that." Diana shared "yeah. Cam, you know the drill." Taylor shared "yes. Truth, please." Cam shared "what's your biggest regret?" Taylor asked.

As Cam chuckled "uh.." he said, as Taylor laughed "I'd probably say, um, not spending enough time with my sister before she died." Cam shared "whoa, I'm sorry. I didn't know." Taylor shared "it's okay." Cam shared "you don't have to talk about it if you don't want to." Diana shared "it's okay. It was ten years ago. She was sixteen. Um, I was just a kid. I really looked up to her. Mm, I still look up to her." Cam shared "does it get any easier?" Jeremiah asked "yeah. It's always there, you know. But, um..the pain starts to, uh..you know, feel more like a scar than it does a scab. Like, sometimes something totally random will set you off. Like, um..a song she used to play for you or, um..little yellow tree air freshness she had in her car and the...pain just feels brand new again. But, um..everything..everything goes back normal. Eventually." Cam shared.

"Yeah, the fuck if I know." Jeremiah shared "I'm sorry, man." Conrad told him "no. I'm sorry about your mom. She was really cool." Cam shared, as Taylor yawned loudly, they all laughed "I'm sorry, Taylor, where did we lose you there?" Cam asked "oh, my god. No, you didn't lose me at all. All right, just, like.." Taylor shared "Taylor!" Diana voiced "no, I really love talking about mental health. Like, you should look at my tiktok. It's like seventy percent therapists. I'm just really fucking tired right now." Taylor shared "yeah, I guess it is getting kind of late." Jeremiah shared "I'll go get you some blankets." Steven shared "yeah, let's do it." Jeremiah shared, as him and Steven stood up.

"Is this camping? Cause I got a badge for that as a girlscout." Taylor shared, as Diana laughed, Conrad and Cam followed the two down "did anyone find an air mattress, by chance?" Taylor asked, as Diana laughed.

Where as everyone was going to sleep, Diana was still awake, taking the last hit of the applebong, and as she did, she didn't notice Jeremiah walking up, as he stopped and looked at her, having no idea how to fix them.

Soon morning came, and Diana was one of the first to wake up, seeing as no matter how late she went to bed, she was used to getting up early, as Jeremiah woke up second, Taylor sat up "get off of me!" she voiced "ow!" Steven voiced, as Jeremiah and Diana chuckled "what time is it?" Taylor asked, as Diana saw Cam's mom walking toward's them, she quickly stood up "what's going on out here?" Cam's mom asked "hmm?" Cam asked, as he sat up, seeing his mom, he got up "mom. Hi. I'm so sorry. Um..they..they needed a place to stay because they lost their house." Cam shared "Cam.." Cam's mom told him "we'll clean everything up, I promise." Diana shared "good. And don't forget to return the cart." Cam's mom shared "yeah, yeah." Cam told her, as Cam's mom walked off.

They all had cleaned up and were walking out front to their car's, Taylor was wearing a leather jacket she got from the lost and found "where's the Hadid concert cause I think someone forgot to give me my backstage pass." Diana shared "shut up!" Taylor voiced, bumping into her, the two laughed, as they got into Jeremiah's car.

Driving back to the house, they all got out and walked up to the front door where Julia stood with the realtor "wow. Look who it is." Jeremiah shared "hi." the realtor told them "it's okay. I'll handle it. Thank you very much." Julia told her "I'll be in touch." the realtor told her, walking away "yes, thank you." Julia told her "excuse me." the realtor told them, walking through them "oh, I wish you boys had gone home when I asked you to." Julia shared "you'e not getting us to abandon our house, Julia." Conrad shared, as Julia walked down to them "it's not your house, Conrad. And, um..it won't be mine for long, either." she shared.

"Julia, please. We have an idea, okay?" Jeremiah asked "a buyer has made an offer on the house and I've officially accepted it. I have to go to Boston to finalize the details, but, um, it's done. The house is sold." Julia shared, as Diana turned looking at Conrad and Jeremiah.
