7. IT'S NOT MY MOM.

THEY STILL WEREN'T DONE. DESPITE Marc wanting them to be. But that goddamn bedroom door he ripped Steven from, was still on Steven's mind. Still peaking his curiosity. He knew there was a memory deep inside it, a memory he couldn't remember but he wanted to, he felt like he needed to and he couldn't understand why Marc was trying to keep him away from it.
Their souls were still unbalanced.
And they were running out of time.
And that's how they found themselves in that bedroom.
The bedroom of a young Marc Spector. Who was sitting in the corner. His knees pulled up to his chest. His breathing heavy. His face covered in tear steaks.
Marc looked tired. He looked worn out from everything that they had to go back through. But especially because of this memory. The memory that he had tried so goddamn hard to keep away from Steven. The memory that Steven should have never, ever come to find out about.
Steven looked confused. He was looking around the room like he knew it, but he didn't know the memory. The memory was brand new for him. And he couldn't wrap his head around it.
Venus was understanding it. She realised that this would be it. This would be the point where Steven would finally learn about his DID. Finally learn about the truth of his mind.
"I don't...This is my room. I remember some things, but I don't remember this," Steven muttered. Turning to look at Marc. Who refused to look anywhere other than young Marc cuddled up to himself on the floor.
Then a loud knock came from the door.
Someone was outside it.
Marc didn't move. He didn't even flinch at the sudden loud noise. But Steven and Venus both did. Turning towards the door and staring at it. The door handle wiggled a couple of times as the banging continued.
"It's not my mom," Young Marc said to himself. Rocking back and forth whilst Steven and Venus turned back to look at him, "It's not my mom. It's not my mom. It's not my mom."
Venus felt tears stinging the back of her eyes as she watched the little boy. The fear that was present in his eyes as he tried soothing himself with his mantra whilst the loud knocking continued. She didn't even need to see what had happened before or after to understand the kind of stuff that Marc had to go through. It was all obvious the second she saw the memory.
"Marc, open this door!" The memory of Marc's mum ordered from the outside, "Open this door right now!"
"It's not my mom."
"Open this door!"
"It's not my mom."
Venus felt her throat tighten. Her hand came up to her mouth, as if to stop the sob from escaping.
The doorknob rattled.
"It's not my mom," Young Marc continued whispering to himself. Closing his eyes. And then when he re-opened them, he looked confused, "Bloody hell..." He said in a British accent, "Look at the state of this place. Better sort it out before mum sees."
Venus watched curiously. She saw Steven moving over to get closer to young Marc, or now young Steven. Looking utterly confused as to what just happened. How he only remembered part of that memory.
