The next morning Melody and Jackson went for a walk. They enjoyed all day playing, running and laughing until it was late. When they started to walk back to the house, the kings found them. Melody asks Jackson to go home because if her parents would send him to jail. Jackson refused but Melody promised to see him again, when she could hide from her parents, they kissed and Jackson ran home, while Melody hurried to the frozen lake.She went toward the middle of the lake while her parents and some guards were on the shore. When she saw them, Melody, began to tell them what she felt and what she wanted to do, she said she wanted to marry whomever she wanted, and did not want to follow all the rules they imposed on her, that she wanted to be free and if being a princess prevented her fom being so, she did not want to be a princess. Her parents told her she could not escape her fate and that she was going to do what they ordered, that she would never be free. She began to cry and when guards approached her, stepped back and suddenly the ice cracked and she fell into the frozen lake and died. The last thing he saw was the moon that shone bright above her.
