"Hey Ruby, I almost forgot! I got you a special present for your birthday!" Yang said, hopping behind her bunk to retrieve a small box.
"Really? What is it?" Ruby said, appearing in a puff of rose petals at the table, which was a bit off-center in the RWBY dorm room.
"Really Yang? You almost forgot your own sister's birthday?" Weiss said from her bunk, trying to focus on schoolwork.
"I didn't forget her birthday, just the present. Well, open it up!" Yang said, tossing a medium-sized box onto the table.
Ruby ripped open the box to see a small mechanical bird of some sort. Team RWBY looked at it with mixed expressions.
"What is that thing?" Weiss asked, walking up to it.
"It looks kinda creepy, don't you think?" Blake said, eyeing it up doubtfully.
"It's a Furby!" Yang said triumphantly. "It was the last in the store, the guy at the register said something about some sort of recall because it had "magical powers" but that made me want to get it for you more!"
"I think it looks cool! Let's see the instructions." Ruby said, picking up the small instructions pamphlet. "Congratulations on adopting a Furby! Feed him, bathe him, and take care of him like a real pet! Make sure you keep a close eye on him thought and give him a lot of love and care. The way you take care of him determines his personality!"
"Sounds... Interesting..." Weiss said, backing up from it slowly.
"Let's turn it on!" Ruby and Yang said in unison. Ruby flipped the switch on its back to 'on' and the Furby's eyes shot open.
"Hello!" The Furby said, further proving Blake's point. Its voice was a tad distorted as if it had been wired incorrectly.
"Cool. What should we name him?" Ruby said, looking to her sister for ideas.
"Maybe Charles? Charles sounds cool." Yang suggested, looking at the Furby intriguingly.
"Charles sounds too old-fashioned. What about James?" Ruby suggested. "Or Jaune, it can probably fight just as well as he could.
"Jaune, what's wrong?" Pyrrha said from her bed.
"I'm not sure, but I think someone just insulted me." Jaune said, peering at the door.
"Let's settle on Chuck. Chuck sounds cool!" Yang suggested, getting a high-five from Ruby.
"Chuck sounds awesome!" Ruby said, writing it down on a note pad so not to forget it.
"Let me get this straight. You got a metallic bird as a pet, and you're naming it- him, Chuck?" Blake said with disdain.
"Yup! I think Chuck's going to be the fifth member of Team RWBY! Except he doesn't fit in with the acronym, so he can just be a mercenary or something." Ruby said, taking Chuck to her bunk to feed and play with.
"For kids 6 to 12... You saw this right Yang?" Weiss read off the box, handing it to Yang.
"Oh. Well, it looks like Ruby still likes it!" Yang observed, seeing Ruby already hugging Chuck.
