Interview of palak__t

May I know a few words about yourself?

Good evening! I am Palak and I am 19. I love reading and writing stories. Singing is one of my hobbies. And I am in the second year of my college.

That's nice! When did you start writing either on this platform or in a normal way?

I have been writing poems and shayaris for the past 6 years. It was my dream to try and write a story at least once. found the platform of Wattpad and hence my first story, Tanhaiyan, which I started writing on 9th april this year.

That's good! What is your motivation to write?

I have always felt that fiction is something that can help anyone escape reality. Fiction is something that can help you live 100 lives at once. So, I wanted to create a world of my own for others to enjoy as well.

How did you feel when you got to know that you are the winner?

I was very delighted once it came to my notice that I had won. It felt like a big achievement since it was my very first award. Winning the first place for something I had put so much effort into, made me feel really grateful.

Did you ever face criticism? If yes, then how did you overcome it?

Thankfully, I haven't received any criticism till now. All my readers are really very supportive of my story. In case I receive some criticism in the future, I would be all for it if it's constructive.

That's good! How did you come across this genre? I mean the genre of your book.

I have always liked ITV shows and Surbhi jyoti is one of my favorite actresses. So, I thought of writing my first story as Fanfiction. Fanfiction is also something that gives you a base to mould your story upon.

What was your opinion about our awards and the way we hosted it?

I think the Tale Tellers Awards hosted by the Teenfix Community gave me and many other fellow budding writers a platform to share our stories and receive appreciation as well as feedback on how we can improve. It was very well organized!

Thanks! Glad you liked it. How do you handle a writer's block situation?

Writer's block is a really tough situation. I usually try tackling it by searching for pictures related to the plot or listening to some music. I also rewatch some of the scenes to help gain inspiration.

That's good! Do you plan on taking writing as a profession?

Writing is something that I have always perceived as a hobby and not a mainstream one. It is something that helps me gain some piece of mind away from my hectic schedule.

What was the response you got when you first published this book?

Since this was my first story, it took me sometime to gain a significant amount of followers and ardent readers to follow the story. Although with time, the support for the story increased and the amount of appreciation helped me improve my writing style.

Is there any advice you would like to give to teenagers out there?

I think all teenagers should try embracing themselves. Self love and self acceptance is very important and should be of the top most priority. Teenage is one of the golden periods of our lives, live to the best, make mistakes but also keep in mind to learn from them. Do what you love always.

That's amazing advice. Would you like to say a few words about our community?

I love that this community is working towards the betterment of teenagers and their mental health. Since a lot of the people involved in this community are teenagers themselves, they all understand and help each other in a better way.

Would you like to join this community?

Thank you for the offer but right now I am pretty preoccupied with my college studies and writing stories. If I ever have a change of mind in the future, I will surely let you know.

How did you feel while giving the interview? Any suggestions you would like to give?

It was a great experience. I had a wonderful time interacting with you!

Thanks. I too had a lovely time interviewing you. With that I wrap up the interview. Thanks for your time.
