She fumbled with the lock of the door, some of her hair falling into her view, this seemed to infuriate her as she resorted to puffing madly at it before she remembered I was standing next to her.

"Sorry," she sighed, finally locking the front door, and then turning to walk, but tripping on a gap of nothing in between the floor. My arms jetted out to steady her, and she replied with another puff at her hair, and another sorry.

We walked in silence down the hall for a bit, me slightly behind her in step, partly for fear she would fall again, and partly in curiosity where we were going.

"I decided to let you in today." She said, and I raised an eyebrow. She scrunched her nose for half a second, another slight quirk of hers. "I've seen you outside, you're there almost everyday, right after me. So I decided not to make you wait in the cold today."

"Why are you here so early, anyway?" I asked.

"I prep Ms. Larkins' room for her." She said, tucking some hair behind her ear, and making a right hand turn. She speeds up slightly, and I jog to catch back up.

"Ms. Larkins? You mean the calculus teacher?" I laughed, "The calculus teacher, really?"

"Yes," she muttered, "The calculus teacher."

"Well, that's an interesting use of time," I said.

"It's my time, not yours." She said, before turning a corner, and jetting off down the hallway.

"Oh, come on!" I called after her, hands in the air, "I didn't mean it like that!"

She was long gone by my last word though. I shook my head, and started in the direction of my locker.

Strange.

The rest of the day went fluidly; periodic smoke breaks, vending machine crap for lunch, and no more encounters with calculus girl. I hadn't seen her at all actually, not once.

"What are you thinking about?" James asked, interrupting my thoughts, and taking a swig from the coca cola in his other hand. He dropped the remains of his cigarette to the ground, and scraped his shoe over it.

"Nothing," I said, and then stood up, extinguishing my own with my heel.

"Oh really," he leered, "Is it a girl?"

"You wish," I chuckled. And tucking my hands in my pockets, I started for the end of the alley, and back 'round for the school. My eyes skimmed over the pudgy looking Honda, and I tightened my jaw, trying to set my mind on something like biology, rather than her.

Because it shouldn't be a girl.

i felt like updating finally. it sucks though.

sorry.
