Chapter 21
Annabelle's P.O.V
The next day of school was worse. Guys in the hall said we didn't belong, that I was the outsider now, I wasn't the normal one anymore.
They're right, I'm the only human, only girl in an all boys werewolf boarding school. I don't belong but not the way they think.
They think I am judging them. That I think I'm better than them. That's not true.
I also had to deal with the ridicule of being able to walk around after all there comments.
At lunch we went to the infermary. The doctor was not happy to see me.
Rain had to wait outside for privacy reasons but I think it's because I wanted him to stay.
"What's the matter? Break a nail?" He said cruelly.
I shook my head and started to speak but was interupted.
"No. Well that is a surprise. You know if it's anything to do with ....girl ...stuff I won't answer."
"My leg has healed but the doctor in my pack said to get a second opinion." I mumbled, looking down.
"What?" He seemed very surprised.
"It's all in my file." I mumbled matter of factly.
I was trying to stay dejected from the situation but this is the first real time I've been around a man alone since home. I was scared and wary as I was and add the man being angry at me just hightens my fears.
He went to the filing cabinet in the corner of the room and took out a file after a short flick through the contents. He opened it and began reading.
"Why did it take so long to heal?" He asked in a reproachful tone.
"It got infected and it wasn't healing the way it should have." I said looking down.
"It says here to check other injuries as well but doesn't specify?" He remarked in a questioning term.
"I'm not sure but I think it's if the other 'injuries' are othering me and there not." I answered shakily, keeping my gaze on the tiled floor.
"What other injuries would you have? Were you in an accident recently or something?"
I shook my head. Why did they have to mention that I had other injuries in the file?
"Not going to answer me. Well you're just charming." He stated sarcastically. "Well lets get this over with. Go lay on the table."
I did as I was told as to not make the situation any more hostile. The air was tense as I lay down, thinking how easily he could hurt me or tie me down like this.
I pushed the thoughts out of my head as I pointed to the now healed gash.
He took a look at it and then adruptly turned away.
"Why are the stitches still in?" He asked, strained.
"The wound kept opening up." I said.
"Oh." Was all he said as he began to take the stitches out.
It hurt a little but I was used to a lot worse. I was also very surprised that he was doing carefully instead of delibrately trying to hurt me.
Once it was done he told me to stand and test out te leg. It didn't hurt at all.
I smiled to myself.
"Is that the reason the new werewolf was giving you piggy-backs?" He asked incredilously.
I nodded.
"Did you tell him too?"
I was happy and a little hyper so Ididn't think before answering his question.
"No, he actually wouldn't me walk. He's really protective like that. He wouldn't even let me carry the school bag!" I laughed.
The doctor looked shocked and that's when I realised what I'd said. I gulped backing away.
This made him even more surprised.
"I guess I shuldn't listen to the rumours that are going around." He said taking in my rection.
"We're not monstors you know, and if you think we are then you should have more carefully about coming here." He said dismissively while putting my file away.
I took that as my que to leave. Stepping out f the door quickly, feeling familiar hands engulf me.
What would I do without him? I knew deep down that this thing between us wouldn't last but a girl can dream, right?
"How'd it go?" He asked a little jumpy.
He looked as excited about my healed leg as much as I was. "He took the stitches out so I'm good now.
He turned his back to me with a giant smile on his face and pulled me up onto his back.
He started walkig down the hallway. "Rain, what are you doing, I can walk now!" I stated incredulously.
He didn't answer so I began to squirm, trying to get out of his grasp. "Rain, I'm serious, put me down."
"I like carrying you." He laughed as we headed to our next class.
