Sophia’s POV
“Samantala, si Simuon ay nakipagkita kay Basilio at muling hinikayat ang binatang umanib sa binabalak niyang paghihimagsik at mangulo sa isang pulutong na sapilitang magbubukas sa kumbento ng Sta. Clara upang agawin si Maria Clara. Subalit hindi naibunsod ang ganitong gawain dahil sa si Maria Clara'y namatay na nang hapong yaon.”
Nandito ako ngayon sa library at binabasa ang El Fili para sa darating na final exam namin next week. Cover to cover daw kasi ang subject na to. Pero ito pa lang ang nababasa ko, mukhang mauubusan na ako ng dugo sa sobrang lalim ng mga salita. T___T
Di bale, okay na din to. After next week’s hell week, graduation na! Then it’ll be long week of fun! ^______^
Tapos college na! At ako’y wala pang naiisip na matinong kurso. T____T
“Ang haba ng mukha mo” narinig kong may nagsalita
“Maganda naman” sabi ko ng makitang si Renz pala yon
“Alam ko. Eh anong problema mo dyan? Para kang pinagsakluban ng langit at lupa” komento naman niya
“Eh kasi finals na. Tapos ggraduate na tayo. Tapos college na. T____T”
“Oh, anong problema don?”
“Wala pa akong naiisip na course na kukunin. Wag na lang kaya ako mag college. Great idea, right? ^___^”
“Eh kung sinsabi ko kaya kay Nathan yang mga pinagsasabi mo.”
“Tss. Oo na. Joke lang eh. Hehe ^___^v”
“Nandito lang pala kayo. Kanina pa kayo hinahanap ni Ms. Guevarra, rehearsal na.” sabi ni Jiro pagkadating niya sa table namin
Tumayo na kami at pumunta sa main hall para magpractice. I never thought na may mas tatalino pa pala sakin na ngayo’y Valedictorian ng batch namin. Sino pa ba? Edi si ever gwapo at sweet Renz. Pero ako naman ang Salutatorian, oh diba bongga! ^____^
“And for this school year’s salutatorian, Maria Sophia Montenegro.” I marched my way to the stage to get my diploma. If the last two weeks were just practices, this time it’s real.
Umakyat ako sa stage together with my brother. Yes, you’ve read it right. With my brother. No mother and no father. As far as I’m concern, they’re probably busy with stuffs that they can’t even take time off to attend my graduation. Oh right, I almost forgot. My first car arrived earlier with a printed letter in an envelope saying ‘Congratulations! J’. Good thing it had a smiley face on, or else I would’ve thrown it.
“Hey smile” bulong sakin ni Nathan. Napansin niya sigurong wala ako sa mood kaya ngumiti na din ako.
Ang importante, alam kong may nagmamahal pa din sa akin. I’m not saying that my parents don’t love me, it’s just that I can’t feel that love. They never had the time to stop their work for a while and have some fun time with my brother and me. I’ve never even seen them smile for once whenever they come home. How I wish my life would be different and not like this. I might be living in a big house, but it never felt like home. Instead, it felt like it’s just some random house where you can live, eat and sleep.
Bumaba na kami ni Nathan at umupo na ako sa assigned seat ko. Finally, graduate na ako. I’m glad na walang problema na dumating this past months. Next step of my life na and that’s going to be my college life. I’ve finally decided to take up Fashion Designing and planning to put up a business after college and make my own name. Fashion is my forte, and I know I can do very well.
We had a small dinner party after the graduation with Renz, Jiro, Ken and the girls. After that umuwi din silang lahat except for Renz na nag stay pa for a couple of hours. We talked about our college. Kung saan siya mag-eenroll and kung anong course. He’ll be attending the same school as I will but he’ll take up Political Science. I bet he would make a pretty good lawyer someday.
