On Sunday evening Wes remembered belatedly about the other parts of Mr Blake's instructions: the name-choosing and the form to fill in for the tailor's appointment. He made to text Vincent about it before realising that – of course – he didn't have Vincent's number.
"Well this is rather a pickle," he remarked to the family dog, Baz, who just gazed happily at him. Mom had already completed her obligatory Skype session for the day, Dad had checked in with a text ducking out of his, and Wes officially had the house to himself.
Wes thought for a few moments. The only other person he'd ever seen really speak to Vincent was Dakota, so he shot a quick text to her asking:
'have u got odisti's number? x'
Her reply came after about ten minutes:
'no sorry- we're not quite on number terms lolol. my ex might have it tho i think all the guys in the boarding house are given each others- i can ask him??'
'yes please!! x' typed back Wes quickly. After about half an hour another text came through, Vincent's number followed by a 'u owe me alcroft' from Dakota. He sent her a thank you and then quickly tapped out a text to Vincent.
'this is wes, forgot to tell u we need a team name for the authorities asap- have to tell blake tomorrow'
To be honest he was highly doubtful that Vincent would reply but in fact less than two minutes had passed before his phone was buzzing with an incoming message.
'we don't need a team name bc there is no team'
'way harsh tai' sent Wes before thinking and then swore under his breath because this wasn't Billie he was texting, and how much more stereotypically gay could he get? He was toying with sending another message to brush over that one when Vincent replied,
'don't u quote fucking clueless at me'
For some reason that startled a laugh out of him, but he didn't get a chance to answer before another text (or rather, string of texts) from Vincent buzzed through.
'U AND I ARE NOT A TEAM'
'& WE NEVER WILL BE'
'EVER'
'OUR RELATIONSHIP HAS BEEN TERMINATED'
Annnd okay, apparently Wes just found Vincent's attempts at assertion really, really funny. He settled back on the sofa, giggling stupidly as Baz curled in beside him.
'I feel like youre breaking up with me,' he sent, mostly just to poke a reaction out of Vincent. 'in an extremely insensitive manner'
'also, there is still a team bc u signed up to it ha ha ha'
'no escape :-)))))'
'love from ur tEAM mate'
Vincent didn't disappoint.
'u will regret this' he answered darkly, all melodrama.
'please,' sent Wes. 'if youre trying to sound villainous at least try and be a bit more creative'
'fine-'
