I killed a dream today
loving it to death
its eyes the most clouded sky
and the sadness reflected my pain
it cried
not wanting to stay
it cried
As I held it to myself
It didn't want to stay
With me
I clung to it
so stubbornly
so selfishly
Like a fish to a scale
the sweetest dream
I let it flee
And I stayed
