Maya's POV
"Fine" he started
He reached into his back pocket.
"This is my older sister. Her name was Dayna." He handed me a picture
"She's beautiful"
"Yea I know. She was so beautiful, she loved her wild bleach blonde hair with orange red tips and her many
piercings." He stiffened
"Was?" I questioned quietly
"Yea" he whispered " I was 10 she was 15. When I was 9 I went in her room. She had a T-shirt on, and she thought she locked the door. She whipped around, and I saw the blade in her hand, blood dripping down her arms. I was so shocked but I didn't really understand. She sobbed. My big tough sister was crying. So I started to cry I ran up and hugged her. She made me promise not to tell dad. Our mom had died 4 months before from cancer"
"Dal-"
"I never told anyone. But as the weeks went on she was more distant. I could hear her crying all the time. She was alway either in her room or she was wearing long sleeves. I was scared for her, so I mentioned it to my counselor at school. She told me to be there for her if i wouldn't get her help. So every time she went in her room and locked the door I would sit outside the door. When I was 10, she was 15 I finally got enough courage to speak though the door. I cried to her 'please Dayna, don't hurt yourself' she sobbed and came out. She gave me a hug and said 'if I die, remember I always loved you Dallas'. She sat with me for an hour and took me to bed. She even slept with me that night. I went to school the next morning. I walked back to our..." He choked a little
"...our house and I went to her room. When I opened the door I couldn't take back what I had just saw. She was just hanging there. She was in her favorite outfit, she looked so beautiful, but I knew she was dead. I stood on the fallen chair and I tried to lift her up, but there was no saving her. She left a note. I read it. I still have it too. I called my father at work, and he came home so fast I didn't understand how he got there. He didn't cry. And neither did I because that's not what she woulda wanted. Her favorite outfit was a Jack Daniels tee and some denim shorts with her black high tops. We saw all of her scars the now dried blood dripping from her arm to her hand and to the floor. And then I saw you, Maya"
His eyes were so sad looking but his face didn't change. He looked at the sky while he talked until the last part.
"Dallas I'm-"
"Now I told you, so you tell me" he cut me off
"Alright. Well it started when my dad stole me the first time......"
