The Warfield (A warhammer 40k story)

Chapter 5

The whole group moved through the Skank as the Sentinel stepped over the ruins around as the Inquisition Acolytes stayed in a tight group with lasrifles and lascarbines raised for trouble. Jonathan kept his radar up as he panned his lascannon around as often as he could as he took a step over the remains of a old vehicle.

"How far till we reach the objective?" asked Jaxx over the vox-communicator.

"I'd say we are just now entering their domain...." said Jonathan as he looked around.

Drake kept his trusty lasrifle up with Jaxx's shotgun as Toombs, Stark, and Rex kept up their autoguns up as they tracked their surroundings. The surroundings were mostly broken buildings that had the old scars of war: bullet holes, laser scarring, the residue of explosions, and the old splashes of blood as they slowly walked through the ruins of the Skank.

Suddenly, an Arbites squad up ahead stopped and as the entire platoon the was spread out halted, the Arbites looked around as he kept his shield up along with his shotgun.

"Something wrong?" asked the platoon leader.

"I thought I saw-" the Arbites trooper was unable to finish the sentence as an autogun barked and the three shots blasted through his armor and his blood splashed onto the ground beneath him as everywhere at once, the High Hive gang members began to appear from everywhere as they wore all sorts of armor and had everything from laspistols to autoguns in their hands.

Jaxx ducked as a few autoguns missed him and Drake go next to him as his lasrifle whined and his shots missed a Gangster with a Mohawk and pierced lips as the gangster hit the deck but continued to fire away. Rex fired with Toombs and Stark as they were stuck in the first floor to a ruined building as Scarlet, Ride, and Eli all ran across the way to another building in a flanking maneuver. Shots snapped by them as Mac fired off a few hasty snap shots that hit nothing but open space but he did manage to make a few Gang members head duck down as they quickly busted down a door and entered the ruined remains of a quaint family room as shots immediately began to bust through the crumbling walls.

Engelbart, Widit, and Theodosius quickly made their way around the fighting as Engelbart prepped a grenade and then he threw it as hard as he could towards a clump of gang members. It sailed over the heads as it was on a fairly long fuse and it bounced off some rubble as it landed at the foot of a gang member with some scrap armor and he howled as the explosion tore his body in half and sent the top half flying away.

The Sentinels autocannon barked out as spent casings rained from the breach onto the ground and as the cannon tore through a building full of the gang members, explosions of blood and body parts went flying as the high-caliber shells tore them into pieces.

The Arbites were all around the group as they tried to fend off the attacks but already an entire squads worth of Artbites were downed and scattered around, their blood spreading across the ground and rubble as the High Hive gang continued to advance against the force.

Phrix ducked as a few shots tried to reach her and as they snapped by, she summoned the Warp around her as she then cast a spell to cause a nearby group of enemies to think they were enemies.

Three of them shook of the effect but the other three looked at the others and one another and began to shoot as two dropped instantly from the barrage as the rest took cover and continued to fire at one another.

Jonathan panned the Sentinel as a few shots bounced off the legs of the Sentinel and he ducked it behind a destroyed building as Logan joined and as he took aim, he fired off three shots at a group of gang members that were trying to encroach upon a group of Arbites. Two shots missed completely and went wide of their mark but the last managed to wing a gang member in his right arm as he prepped a grenade and as the man dropped down, the grenade suddenly exploded in his hand and wiped the group off the battlefield.
