And You Will Make Good Noises

10 0 1

One.
The way your fingers hold me
Like wine scraped from a
Barren planet.
How badly I wanted
To intoxicate.
Hours later, your lips are stained purple
But chapped again. And
Your nails share a bed with
Last week's dirt.

Two.
First, find a pen. Light a fire.
Quickly, dissect. Bad people work like onions. Light them a fire or they'll make you cry.
Put them in.
Steal good people, just small bits.
You cut:
Half, half that. Quarters are too big.
You pile them and hope for the best.
It's steel plus story plus chaos.
Add those.
Sizzling, that's a good noise.
Crack yourself open. Not too hard, sometimes the shell
Caves in and falls. You remember you saw a picture of
A bullet through an egg. Milliseconds.
It was like glimpsing magma
Through the earth.
Now, add a tablespoon. Salt. Pepper.
Pour this in. Make it fancy. Wait while it makes
Good noises.

Three.
Bad people only make good noises when
You take parts of them.
They don't sizzle; they come through the doorway
When their mouth is a bullet wound,
When they're screaming and there's
Nothing to do.
When their skin is cracked plaster and
Knuckles.
Like glimpsing magma through the earth.
They fall in and
They'll do it again.

Four.
Setting/exposition.
Rising action, but we never fly.
Climax.
Fall.
Resolution, tie up the loose ends- end.
The curriculum is flawed.
A recipe with no measurements
This recipe doesn't make any
Noises.
They forgot that learning
To write a story is
Learning
To write yourself.

Five.
Falling through the doorway. My lips are stained purple and chapped
From lack of oxygen.
Breath rushing. Lungs like a whirlpool.
I am not you; outer space is full of fire
And cold.
I do not live on frost and carbon; I could not breath there.
I wanted to intoxicate. But
I was the only one home.

Six.
Categories. Opposites are a lie.
I wrote on my arms in chocolate
And in vanilla-ash.
But it looked
Different.
Good/bad is a lie.
Remember: only pieces.
A whole person is an overdose. Too true.
Remember: we tell stories. We tell lies.
Add salt, add pepper. Take lies and make yourself.
You will make
Good noises.
