Tara frantically looked between the two, not knowing what to do.
To her right was her twin sister, one who she's just found out about a few months ago. One who betrayed her but somehow managed to make her doubt everything she thought she knew. One who was currently terrified, frozen in place. Her eyes were showing a mix of doubt and fear. She didn't know if she would do it or not.
To her left was her mentor since she was a kid. The man who took her in after she lost her adoptive family in an electrical accident. He introduced her to Quentin, Kylee, Bryan, and Torstyn, her best (and only) friends. He has been guiding her for most of her life, helping her perfect her powers, to be who she was now.
And yet, the one act, one that will define her as a person to others and herself, does not include her special abilities, but a simple gun.
Shoot her.
She looked down at the weapon in her hand, as if staring it down would solve her internal dilemma. For once in her life, Tara wasn't sure what to do. Everything was always in black and white. Do this because it's right and don't do this because it's wrong. There was never any gray areas.
She could do it. Dr. Hatch, the man who has basically raised her, told her to, so it must be the right thing to do, right? It's not like she hasn't done worse. She's made GPs go mentally insane and she enjoyed it. She tortured them, making them wish that they would die but never granting it. So why should a quick, practically painless death make her stop to think?
One word.
Taylor.
If this was any stranger, sure, Tara might have hesitated a little, never having directly killed a person. But she would have done it, nonetheless. It wouldn't affect her conscious, there was probably a good reason for killing the stranger, otherwise Dr. Hatch wouldn't have told her to do it. Besides, it was an order and Tara knew what happened if you didn't follow orders.
But this wasn't any stranger. This was Taylor. Her ignorant twin who was just raised by the wrong people and made the wrong decisions, at least by Dr. Hatch's explanation. But what if that wasn't the case? What if Tara was the ignorant one?
What if Dr. Hatch was wrong?
Tara vaguely remembered something Taylor had said when her and Vey escaped the Pasadena facility, so long ago.
I'm human, Tara. And so are you. Would you kill me if Hatch told you to?
Tara had hesitated then and she hesitated now. Quentin had told her that Taylor was just trying to manipulate her, trying to make her question her actions.
Slowly, she raised the gun, pointing it at Taylor. Her twin held her breath and her eyes flicked up to Tara's conflicted expression, then down to the gun pointed at her heart.
She was trying to manipulate me, Tara reassured herself. She was trying to make me question everything. That's what Q said.
But what he didn't know, was that she succeeded.
Ever since Taylor showed up, Tara's life was chaos. For once, she was confused on who she was as a person. What does she really want? Has she ever been genuinely happy with her life? Or was it just Dr. Hatch molding her into who he wants her to be?
Tara knew what she wanted to do. But there was still a sliver of doubt in her mind. Until Taylor said one word. One word that made Tara lose all her doubts in her decision. One word that pushed her over the edge. One word that broke her.
"Please."
Tara lowered the gun.

Woah, that was woozy. I honestly did not know where that came from, I just started writing, sleep deprived and having just watched The Shallows.(Great movie, btw. Would not recommend to people who are easily grossed out by blood. Would recommend to Blake Lively fans, cuz, Blake Lively.)
Anyway. Schools out so I'll have more time to write and hopefully I'll be able to update more and write some one shots in advance to avoid long waits like the past year.
Enough of my ranting and random stuff. Did you like this one shot? Vote and comment!
And no, I did not forget the requests. I am really sorry for the super long wait. Once I'm done with all the ones on the list I can start taking in more requests. Hopefully I'll be able to write them faster. Thank you to those being patient.
Love you all <3
