Meadow paused for a second, conceiving a way to summarise all the disparities in Gideon. "What do you mean?" he replied, glancing behind his shoulder as if Gideon was standing right behind him.
"I mean that he is acting a bit odd. Jett still looked perplexed. "Well basically, he hasn't called me Miss Wilton in 5 years, which was on the first day I met him! After that, he's always called me 'Cupcake' or 'Twinkles' or even just ' Meadow'! And he is never really formal to me except on missions or when he really needs to. He hates being serious too. Also, his voice has changed...a lot. No way can a cold do that much - dare I say - damage to your voice. And it seems vaguely familiar in some ways. Don't tell me you haven't noticed any of these things!" After considering everything the young Spark had mentioned, the three other wizards finally realised and admitted that something fishy was happening. They needed to uncover the truth!
The next day, Meadow woke up extra early to attend the Secret Wizardry Spy Organisation group meeting (that the four children made up). It was to happen before school, and quickly - if they all wanted to get to the Magic Realm and back to school on time! Meadow got dressed into her school uniform so she didn't have to change into it later.
When she arrived downstairs, she took out a golden doorknob from her rucksack and pushed it against the top of the front door. Almost instantly, it stuck firmly to the carved wood. She spun around to say goodbye to her mum and then twisted the knob, pulling it down to the ground like a drawbridge. Meadow clicked a hidden button on the knob and it became loose. Next, she stepped onto the door - still holding the handle - and slammed it on the other side of the exit. Meadow pulled the door up behind her until it was completely shut, clicking the secret button to unbolt the knob from the door.
She was in a whole new dimension of magic! In a matter of minutes, Meadow found herself sitting in an arm chair in her personal lair. This is where she did her research on magic, developed her knowledge of spells and potions, worked on her missions and did other important (or not) things.
"Hey Meadow! Nice uniform." Marvin teased mischievously.
"Don't tease me just 'cos my school encourages uniform and your's doesn't!" she exclaimed, throwing the nearest pillow at him. "And anyway, I kinda like my uniform. I think it suits me..." Marvin was about to counter an argument back but he was interrupted by Alanna.
"Stop getting off track." she said. "We need to focus on finding out what's wrong with Meadow's councillor." 15 minutes later, the four teens worked out a fool-proof plan to expose "Gideon".That same day, after school, they would meet up outside his office (or lair as he preferred it) before he arrived and plant spy cameras around the room. But before that, it was Meadow's turn to complete the first part of the mission.
