Chapter three: First Raid

Jack~

I wake up to the wonderful smell of pancakes, bacon, and eggs. I smile and hurry downstairs.

"Just in time, your father was about to eat the last of the bacon if you didn't wake up soon," my mom says as she sees me enter the kitchen and sat down at the table.

"Woman! You wanted to eat the last few pieces don't lie" dad sassed back.

I chuckle.

"Don't give me attitude when I cook your meals!" mom snaps back.

"At least you don't have to clean the stinkin' bathroom..." He grumbles.

Mom smiles and kisses his cheek, "love you"

"More like you love the agreement but I love you too" dad shakes his head and smiles when he takes a bite of his pancakes.

"I'm gonna miss this when I leave" I look at them.

"What are you talking about baby?" Mom replies in shock.

"I'm leaving, to go search for my mate" I deadpan.

"Ah, right, happy birthday Jack" she kisses my forehead.

"You'll have to stop that now, he's not a baby to coddle" dad takes a bite out of his eggs and bacon.

"Oh hush, he will be my baby cuddle until he has kids then I will coddle them" I almost spit out the orange juice I was drinking.

Kids!? Who even said my mate is a she? I mean I'd have nothing wrong with my mate being a she but I'd so love for my mate to be a he. I'm practically begging Diosa for a nice piece of ass with a handsome face and piercing eyes...

"Hey, are you paying attention?" Mom snaps her fingers in front of me.

"Uh..." She sighs.

"Jack, I was saying that at the meeting last night we were told to get ready for a raid tomorrow" dad repeats.

"Who and why are we raiding?"

"A bloodsucker clan" he finishes his plate and washes his dishes.

I nod in understanding. I quickly finish my last breakfast here, because right after the raid I'm determined to find my mate. Once done, I washed the dishes and left to prepare for the raid with the other warriors.

"We leave tonight!" Sir Enrique shouted.

"Yes, sir!" We, his warriors, responded back.

"We will arrive at their roost while they sleep in the day" He walks down the line up of warriors on the large training field.

"Sir, yes sir!"

"We will lure them out of their dark hiding places and into the rays of the sun to watch their skin boil" he proceeds to go down the rows.

"And if that doesn't stop them?" He questions a warrior a few rows behind me.

"We will fight and decapitate them, sir!"

"Yes, we will! Be ready at dusk, it will take the whole night to get there" Once he was back at the front he looks at all of us.

"Yes, sir!"

"Dismissed!" At his final shout the warriors left to get some last minute rest in.

Once they all left dad came to my side, "how are you feeling about your first raid?"

I shrug, "I'm not sure, but I've got a funny feeling about it..."

He nods then I looked him in the eyes, "Dad...would it matter to you if my mate is a boy, not a girl?"

"Not at all, Diosa chooses our mate with good reason. Whether they be of the opposite or same-sex we are not to judge" he gives me a reassuring smile.

Good, now I can really hope my mate is a handsome fellow. Now I'm getting all giddy. I just can't wait to find my mate and make them mine.

"Let's go home Jack and get some rest before tonight, twenty-four," he says and we walk back home.

"Hey, Ricky, Jack, how are the warriors?" Mom asks after giving dad a kiss on the cheek.

"The experienced ones will be alright, it's just the newbies I'm worried for" dad replies.

I give him a look, "except for Jack of course" he corrects himself with a smirk.

"Well, wake me up before dusk comes" at that I left to my bedroom twenty-four

The next hours will take a toll that we're all willing to pay for.
