CHAPTER 1
LIFE ON A CASTLE
"Belinda!” a voice called strongly.
A thin, beautiful woman wearing a patterned red and white uniform closed in “Your highness, my mom is sick and could not perform her tasks. I wish you spare her for doing her chores and may I replace her this time while she is resting in the servant’s quarters” Adelide Froissart, the daughter of Belinda spoke while kneeling in front of the king.
“OK… just let her rest. Ahm…Tell my Queen to go down this instant, the guests are almost complete. Tell her that she needs to welcome our officials." King Ronivius Griderin, the 378th king of Eluda, the tall, bulky, bearded, mighty and brave chief that was recognized for suppressing its enemies to penetrate across the whole kingdom, said in a whispering manner.
He is wearing a shining gold chest plate with a striking sunshine colored hose reaching up to his ankles and a red cape with multiple embroideries and the kingdom’s symbol in the center the “Teliosk”, the three inscribing circles with a Byzantium cross in the middle. He also wears shoes shaped like high slippers, gloves as white as a dove and to top all that is a glittering crown embedded with twenty three diamonds, three crystal rubies and eight jades.
The servant hearing what the king commanded immediately went up the stairs, went straight to the Queen’s room and is about to tell her what the King commanded.
Reaching the top, Adelide found the room and knocked three times at the elegant door lightly. To her surprise she was disarmed by the event that the room was filled with seven servants trying to fix the Queen's hair and her dress while they shower her with the special perfume only suitable for such royalty. The aroma scattered all over the room and escaped to reach the stairs till the main hall.
“Your majesty, the king is asking if you could come this instant to the hallway for the guests are almost complete." The servant politely said while trying not to look into the queen’s eyes for showing sheer respect.
“Well, I will be there in a moment; I just need to do the finishing touches. Tell it to the king, I'll be there immediately". She told smiling and politely to her servant beyond their level of discrepancy in the society.
"Yes, your royal highness!" she shut the door without the slightest sound and head down to report to the king what she had heard.
"Toot toroot toot toot toot toot………..toot!"
The sounds of the trumpets were blasting across the whole tillage for the signal of the start of the celebration. Several guests arrived in the palace and most of which were high officials of the monarchy together with their spouses and children.
They were escorted to their respective seats according to their hierarchy by the castle’s squires. All were wearing fabulous gowns and dresses. Most are boasting their huge jewels dangling on their ears and necks.
From diamonds to pearls were shimmering across the whole hall. Men are wearing their canes with different style and grandiose to showcase their status in the society. Black suits were a fad and tight leather shoes were in fashion together with a tall bulgy square shaped cap on their heads.
As Usual the Roude and the Falafeis are trying to outwit each other. Madam Eltra Lyre Roude ,the thin, long necked wife of the duke of Chander Wailes, is accompanied by two servants holding her over rippled gown colored in deep emerald with tons of embellishments and is capped by a peach colored hat about twenty inches in diameter with a huge butterfly dangling on its top.
Her ears are almost pierced off by the huge diamond about the size of a billiard ball dangling near to her shoulders. She is with her short husband Duke Yonder Dware Roude in an orchestra director looking attire, holding hands as if mother and son.
