System Overworld: The Analog Interface

Chapter 6: Analog Interface

"ANALOG_INTERFACE... ...ACCESSED
UPLOADING_SIMULATED_ROUTE...9%...55%...89%...100%"

Though the actions taking place around me were of the kind that would inflict fear, I didn't feel any, this must've been because of System Overworld.

"Command prompt," I whispered.

"Hack into the surveillance system,"

"HACKING_SYSTEM... ...FAILED"

The system must've been down. Very cliche of the Knights Of Round.

"Command prompt, hack into fail safe system,"

"HACKING_SYSTEM... ...SUCCESS"

All around the facility electrified iron bars and gates came over the windows and doors, blocking out light and trapping everyone inside.

"Well this is interesting," Julian said from on the display.

"Why is System Oberon, trapping you all inside?" He inquired.

He wrongfully assumed that Oberon was behind this and not me, which suggests that he doesn't know I'm here.

"Command prompt, cut all power, primary and auxiliary reserves,"

"HACKING_SYSTEM... ...PRIMARY_POWER ... ...DISABLED
HACKING_SYSTEM... ... SECONDARY_POWER... ...DISABLED"

The power went out, we stood in complete darkness as students began to scream in fear. I however was able to see due to the night vision that my right eye had.

"Command prompt, disable safety mode," I said.

"SAFETY_MODE...DISABLED
HOLOGRAM_DISABLED
PULSE_CANNON_ENABLED"

I slinked through the darkness, making my way to the Round soldier at the front. They saw me and began to approach me, they seemed to have night vision capabilities as well.

"COMMAND_PROMPT_ASSIST
PARTICLE_LANCE_ENABLED"

My left arm segmented itself and changed form, resembling that of a sniper rifle.

I pointed my arm towards one of my enemies and fired a blue coloured track of light, that raced towards him. Once it made contact with him, his body began to swell and swell, making his body accumulate in size until it exploded, blood and organs went flying through the air colliding into students. The students who realized what had landed on them began to scream in horror. I moved quickly to another area and fired again at the other enemies causing their bodies to explode one after the other. With their bodies all over the place students panicked and ran in horror.

I was one of the first to leave to exit the AV room. Though I thought my goal was to just save the students I found myself heading towards the actual department. Only in this way was System Overworld  superior to System Oberon. Oberon didn't have an analog interface like Overworld, so Oberon couldn't battle under these circumstances. In this case I was the omnipotent one, I was both sword and shield in this battle.

I proceeded down the hallways, making my way to the bridge that connected the the university to the department.

"HOSTILES_INBOUND"

"Command prompt, initiate assist mode," I said after placing my handkerchief on my face as a mask.

"COMMAND_PROMPT_ASSIST
AIR_GATLING_GUN_ENABLED"

My left arm segmented itself, altering itself into to the form of a mini-gun with two rotatable barrels with an opening to a small cannon in the center of both barrels.

I made my way to the bridge where Round soldiers as well as Republic soldiers did battle. Over the transparent ceiling of the bridge, were three of the Round's cloaking ships, allowing both mechs and soldiers to board the bridge. The Republic had their mechs and soldiers as well as moveable turrets set up to defend the entrance into the department.

With bullets flying, cloaked soldiers, highly explosive rounds and wrestling as well as gun slinging mechs, casualties were piling up high.

I faced foward my gatling gun arm and air was sucked in at my elbow pressurized within my arm and then launched out the dual rotating barrels at high speeds, ripping through the bodies of both the Rebulic soldiers and Round soldiers. The mechs turned their attentions to me. They took aim and fired, the dual barrels in my arm retracted slightly and the cannon in the middle pushed foward as my arm sucked in a huge amount of air from behind and then it was released in the form of a huge air current forcing the enemy shots to be pushed back at them with a huge amount force, a force that ripped apart the mechs, the turrets, every person who got caught in the blast and finally the gates into the department.

"AIR_GATLING_GUN_DISABLED"

It seemed that the air current consumed a lot out of my reserves, I would need to refrain from using the gatling gun for now.

"HOSTILE_INBOUND"

System Overworld alerted me as a mech drove in from the department. It was the third generation prototype. It revved up it's engine and drove up quickly upon me, thrusting forward one of it's H.E mountable machine guns. I lifted my arm to defend, with the pilot still in full throttle, the mech pushed against my body as my legs rooted into the ground trying to offer resistance, however it didn't do much as the mechs arm was hoisted upwards, which sent me hurdling back into the university entrance.

"CHIMERA_VIRUS_REGULATOR_ENABLED"

System Overworld activated the regulator, which caused the virus within me to grow strong enough to mutate my body into healing itself, at which point the virus was reduced when the injuries were healed.

"SIMULATING_ROUTES...
ROUTE_CHOSEN...ROUTE_241_OF_250"

In a flash, the data regarding  the prototype came back to me, it's currently known point which isn't reinforced is the hip area.

I ran foward at high speed and then jumped over the mech landing behind it. Not much time was taken for it to turn around and even less time for it to begin racing towards me, thrusting both fists at me, one after the other, trying to pin me down.

It also seemed that the pilot wasn't going to use any of his weapons, he must've been told to not use such weapons of mass destruction within this area, this would certainly work to my advantage. Soon enough I was against the wall, I then jumped over the mech once more. The mech turned around and again it began trying to pin me down once again. After sometime we had repeated this process a few times over and finally it happened. I had jumped over the mech and as it turned around the hip area began to rip itself apart.

From the data I had acquired, this mech was able to turn itself around with it's top half first and then it's below part. I made the mech turn so many time times over at a certain point, that the hip area wared itself out thus ripping it's own body part. This mech's design was for fast extermination with the use of it's weapon on a huge area, however it didn't use it's weapons, making the prototype a regular first generation combat mech.

It crackled and sparked at the hip, it couldn't drive anywhere as essential wires were destroyed during it's final turn. It was now a laying duck.

I faced my cyborg arm at it and spoke as Overworld spoke to me.

"COMMAND_PROMPT_ASSIST
ACCESSING_EVOLUTIONARY_CODE_DRIVES... ...
HADRON_CANNON... DOWNLOADED... ENABLED"

My arm then segmented itself and then formed itself into a cannon.

"CHARGING_CANNON...0%...15%...21%...30%... FIRE"

A massive beam of blue energized power was launched, eradicating the entire top half of the mech. Luckily for the pilot he had ejected his cockpit which was launched high and far before the attack had annihilated the mech.

With majority of my power juiced up, my arm retracted into it's normal state. I took up a nearby firearm and then proceeded with caution into the department.
