Matthew didn't notice the rush of the doctors in the hallway, even less that Lexi had showed up and was staring at him. He kept his eyes glued to the wall, without actually seeing anything, for much longer that he could realize. It was like he had lived an extracorporeal experience, since he entered the car on the way to the hospital, all the rush and the desperation; until the inevitable scene that happened minutes before.

"Hello, Earth calling!" Lexi said in a tone that seemed too loud for Crawford, and the shock made him jump and hit the head on the wall.

"Fuck!" He grumbled, holding his head, and Reed giggled with a curious expression in her face.

"What happened to you? What were you doing standing here outside?" The blonde asked, and Matthew realized that was about to blush. Wonderful.

He shook vehement his head, and stared at her.

"I was looking for you." He answered, and the Lexi found it funny.

"Totally parked in the middle of the corridor and looking like you saw a ghost? I think it'd be difficult to find me like that," she said, and Crawford rolled the eyes. Before he could think of an answer, Lexi started to talk again, with a raised eyebrow and a wary tone "Did anything happen?"

"No!" said the actor quickly, and Lexi held the laugh.

Fuck! He was too anxious for his own good. The last thing he needed was Lexi finding out what happened in that bedroom – whatever happened there anyway -; so he simply cleaned his throat and made sure to remember he was an actor, for God's sake, and he could do this so much better.

"I was looking for you to tell that everything is fine with Alyssa and the baby." He said, quickly, and Lexi smiled.

"I know that."

"How do you know?"

"Don't you know me at all, darling? I have my contacts." Reed laughed. "I made sure to make friendship with one of the nurses. Nobody was handling the anxiety outside, we're very happy now."

All right, he was doing okay. He managed to change the subject, Lexi was all talkative... That was good. No need to panic about kissing the girl – no tongue, but still. Lexi was mumbling and that was the moment that he focused on something very important.

"What is Little doing here?" He asked, quickly, with the look glazed on hers and suddenly paying total attention, behaving differently already. Lexi grimaced.

"Little?" She asked, curling a lock of hair with the hands. "That's funny, I don't even know that. I think that since I'm here already maybe I'll visit my lovely friend Aly and-" Lexi was escaping to the door, but Matthew held her arm, making her come back.

Shit.

Lexi knew, more than anyone, that that conversation will end up badly as hell and the last thing they needed was a freaking scene to make Alyssa nervous, especially after what just happened, and to put in risk Crawford's good boy's new facet.

"Don't do that face, Lexi." Matthew said, noticeably pissed off. "I won't let you dupe me. You better talk now, or I'll go there ask to the motherfucker personally," Matt said, and Reed rolled her eyes, pulling him by the hand to an empty room in front of Alyssa's.

She closed the door and took a deep breath, looking at him.

"Listen, Matthew, you need to think about your future and Alyssa's," Lexi started, and Crawford rolled the eyes. "You can't do anything stupid. Promise me you won't do anything stupid."
