Chapter Twelve

Cameron's POV

I don't know why I agreed to this. I know Cassie gave me her trust, but I have a bad feeling something bad is going to come out of this. I can't just let Lily die if there's a chance I can possibly save her I guess it was on me. I headed into the house.

'If we do this, we would be bonded to her wolf. Lily will believe she is your mate.' My wolf growled not happy about this.

'I don't want this either but what am I to do? I can't just look at her family and deny them a chance at having their daughter stay alive.'

'Yes, I understand but we have a mate we are mated too! If you do this it will hurt her whether she agreed or not her wolf will feel I betrayed her.' My wolf whimpered. It wasn't in our nature to hurt our mate I can see why this would bother him so much, hell I feel the same way. I finally made it into the sterile room. Outside the door I can hear the machines and her faint heart beating. I opened the door slowly, what I saw I wasn't prepared to see. Lily was as pale as a ghost she lost her glow she always walked around with her headstrong attitude. She may not be my mate, but I can't deny at one point of my life she was something to me. What that something was, it was in the past. I was her to do a job, and no more.

I sat beside her bed grabbing her hand in minds. She was cold and that wasn't good, we warm blooded wolves.

'Please don't do this! I know you feel you have to but you don't it is not our place, it is her mates. He has to find a way to reach her wolf not us.' My wolf pleaded.

I knew this is wrong I can feel it. Pushing my feeling aside and blocking my wolf I just wanted to get this over with. I got up from my chair and leaned over Lily's delicate frame my heart thumping in my chest and ears drowning out the noise around me. I licked my lips as I prepared to touch hers lips when I felt soft hands wrap around my waist. I instantly froze and turned to see Cassie my beautiful mate. She smiled up at me I couldn't help but smile back enveloping her into my arms. This is home this is where I belong.

"Cassie what are you doing here?" I asked after she had giving me the okay to do this. Something must have changed. I looked at her face as she searched mines looking for some hidden expression or something. With her being a photographer major she tends to read people very well. She smiled softly looking towards Lily.

"Well Cameron I realized, this is not your place, I don't want to share any part of you with anyone one and goddess forgive me, but not even anyone who's on their deathbed. You were made for me and I for you just as Lily was made for Connor which is why you and I are leaving him to his mate. He and his wolf will fix Lily I believe in him. He now realized who his true mate is and I think by him letting me go. Lily's wolf will go to him. So let's leave them to it." She said reaching up on her toes to place a kiss on my lips. "I love you." I whispered against her lips. "I love you too baby."

"Uh... I'm sorry to interrupt, but can you guys give me time with my mate alone." I turned to see Connor on the other side of Lily's bed looking stressed and on edge.

"Sure thing man, have faith, anything is possible I can promise you that." I said looking down at the angel in my arms.

"Thanks man." Connor said I nodded and walked out with my girl. I couldn't help but feel relieved and glad she came in to claim what's hers it gives me pride to know she will be the best Luna for the pack.

"Where to now, my little bad wolf?" I said jokingly as she rolled her eyes with a smirk playing on her lips.

"Well Cameron, I need something to eat and get some rest these last few weeks have been physically draining. We may be wolves, but at some point that part of us gets tired too. She said wrapping her arms around my waist as we walk towards my house or should I say our house. I know I told Alpha Nate once she was better she can decide where she was going to say permanently. Knowing that bastard Royce is still out there I don't want her far from me, even though I know she'd be protected by her family and pack.
