Manananggal!

Back in 2003, a year before my little sister was born, we used to place garlic around our house so a half-bodied human named manananggal, won't attack us. Because they're thirsty for babies, and my mom was pregnant that time, something was scratching our roof and we can hear a sound "eek eek!" and it wasn't a rat or whatsoever! My dad can hear its large wings flapping but it stopped after 3 minutes. From now on, we can not hear those creatures again because my aunt told me to place a bowl of salt outside and voila! They disappeared.
