Chapter thirty one

Nicole walked down the stairs to find Paul making breakfast, he was shirtless and he was humming to himself. Nicole smiled and walked into the room and placed her arms around her waist, she breathed in his incredible scent.

"Happy, birthday honey." She whispered to him.

Paul smiled. "Mm what did you get me for my birthday?"

She smiled playfully. "If I tell you then it won't be surprise."

Paul's eyebrow's shot up. "Does it involve you plus me plus a bedroom?"

She ran her hands all over his chest and kissed him there. "Maybe you'll just have to wait until tonight to find out."

Paul smiled and kissed her deeply.

Nicole's cell phone rang she groaned ugh it was work.

"Hello?" Nicole asked as she answered the phone.

"Hey Nicole it's Mel can you come and work today?"

"Um I kind of have plans it's my finance's birthday today."

"Well we can't find anyone else to replace you, so unless you don't want to have a job anymore."

"No it's okay, I'll come in what's the shift?" asked Nicole.

"11 to 4." said Mel.

"Okay, I'll be there."

Nicole hung up the phone and she saw a frown on Paul's face.

"What is it?" Paul asked her.

"Um that was Mel they want me to come in today and work, only until four. I'll be back later."
Paul sighed. "But why? You're going to miss helping with my party with Meadow."

"I know but it will be okay, I just really don't want to lose my job baby." said Nicole.

Paul wrapped his arms around her waist. "Can't they find someone else to fold shirts? I really want you here today baby. This is the first birthday we've spent together."

"I have to go in, but I'll rush right home after." said Nicole giving him a reassuring kiss.

Paul kissed her back but still had a hurt look in his blue eyes. "I don't want you to go work, but I understand why you have to."

"Thank you for understanding. I'll see you this afternoon?" asked Nicole.

"Okay just hurry back." He said.

"I will, bye." She said kissing him then walking out the door.

Hours later Paul was blowing up birthday ballons with Meadow and Jack, they were in the living room. Paul came into the kitchen to get a glass of water, he saw someone walk in it was Leila.

"Happy birthday handsome." whispered Leila, placing a small hand on Paul's chest.

"Leila I thought I told you never to come here again." whispered Paul.

"I just wanted to know your family. Besides I know you didn't mean it, you never did when you told me to stay away."

"But this time I did. I'm engaged to be married Leila and I'm happy here, I'm not going to let you screw it up for me. Now get out of my house now before I call the cops."

"This isn't the last time you'll see me, Paul we were meant to be together. I know you'll see it. Where's Nicole?" Leila asked looking around.

"She went to work." said Paul.

"She left you alone on your birthday? Baby you know I would never do that to you."

"You should go." said Paul pushing Leila out the door.

Leila sighed. then walked out the door.

Paul breathed a sigh of relief that was a close one.

Nicole came home and Paul had the perfect birthday with her and the kids, Paul and Nicole made love that night, it was eight in the morning when Paul heard his car alarm going off. He quickly ran outside and saw that his Surpra was badly damaged the windows were smashed as well as the doors and the windshield.

"You are Mine." was written and pink lipstick across the windshield.

Nicole ran outside followed by Jack and Meadow.

"What is it Paul?" asked Nicole.

"It's Leila we can't stay here anymore it's not safe." said Paul.

"What do you mean we can't stay here?" asked Meadow.

"I mean we have to leave, we're going to the Dominican Republic. I'm calling Vin."

"What this isn't fair, I don't want to leave my friends." said Meadow.

"You'll thank me in the long run when you get a chance a living, it's too dangerous here we have to go."

"I pack up the car." said Nicole.

Jack took this moment to speak. "Is this because of the lady that came to see me at school on Friday?"

Paul looked at his son. "What?" Paul asked Jack.

"Yes this lady she came to see me and told me she was going to give me candy if I would come and live with her." said Jack.

"Listen buddy I want you to listen to me if you ever see this lady again, come get me and don't talk to her. She's not a nice person."

"I won't." Promised Jack.

Paul and Nicole packed up the car once everyone and everything was safely inside they made their way out of the country. Paul called Vin who said that he would call Jordana and Michelle to come with down with him and his wife.

Paul felt sick his past was really now catching up with him. He just hoped that his family wouldn't pay the price for it.
