The monitor beeped steadily.
But my heart did not.
"Hey, remember when we played sims 4?" Dan tried for a smile. It's hard when you're trying to focus on not dying.
"That was years ago, why would you remember that now?"
"It's just... That was a carefree time in our lives. We were happy, we were in love."
Dans eyes softened, "you know that I've never stopped loving you, right? Not once, not ever. Every single second was the next best second for me. You made my life amazing for me Phil, remember that."
The monitor's beeping got slower. My eyes welled with tears.
"Don't talk like that. Please, no."
Dan took a deep breath.
He knew this was it.
"I love you, Phil Lester. I don't think I've told you that enough. I should've told you every second of every day."
My voice was shaky, "you never had to remind me."
The monitor was ticking time now.
Dan's eyes were teary and red, "Phil?"
"Yes, Dan?"
"I need you to remember something for me," he reached for my hand,
"This is the most fun I've ever had."
Dan let out a sigh, his lungs finally deciding to go sleep with the rest if him.
The monitor stopped beeping.
It flattened.
