|| Chapter 9 ||

"I can tell there's something wrong witchu'. Tell me do you wanna talk about it. You say you got a lot on your mind. Sit down, let's talk about it."

- Aaliyah

"Daddy?"

"The one and only baby girl," he said walking in the house, puffing on a cigar

He motioned for the four guys to stay outside of the door.

She was shocked and she felt like she had to throw up.

He was dead. She went to the funeral. She went to the burial.

"Marie I know yo' ass not down here smokin' in my house-" Malcolm said rushing down the steps. He stopped abruptly

"Pops? How? I thought you. Holy fuck," Malcolm didn't know what to say he was shocked, confused, and angry

"I can explain," their dad said sighing "First,
I didn't fake my death. I was in hidin',"

"Why? Who the hell you hidin' from? You a grown ass man, and put that fuckin' cigar out in my house. My girl upstairs," Malcolm said scrunching up his face

"Whatever man," he said, putting it out in the ashtray "On to the story. Some niggas was out for me. So I fled the country and told your mother I would be back in five months. She knew I was wit' another woman, but she cheated on me first. So instead of holdin' shit down, she told everybody I was dead. She even went so far as to havin' a fake ass memorial service," Malcolm and Maries eyes got wide, they were surprised

"I finally came back to the states. I couldn't come home, because I knew if I came and saw y'all yo' momma would try and rat me out so I stayed away. I have been watchin' y'all though,"

He took a breath "I ain't wanna tell y'all this, but yo' momma mentally fucked up. It's bad. That's why she always changin' personalities and shit. I'm tryin' to get custody of y'all's brothers right now,"

Marie was worried about her brothers. Their mother had taken all her brothers phones and iPods. She had no way of reaching them, and she wouldn't let Malcolm get them.

"So what we bouta' do? We need ta' get them out that house," Marie stated standing up

"My lawyer said if we can get her to give them up, then it'll be easy. It's also somethin' else y'all need ta' kno'," he took a deep breath "I got remarried, and I have other kids," he sighed

"What tha' fuck you mean! Hell naw'," Malcolm yelled shooting up from his seat getting in his fathers face "Ion' give a fuck what you and momma went through or been through. That's foul as fuck, we ain't know nothin' 'bout they ass-,"

"Malcolm clam down," Marie said pushing him back to sit down as his chest heaved up and down as he breathed hard "I wanna meet them," she said causing both her fathers' and Malcolm's eyes to widen

"You sure?-," her father was cut off

"Let's go," she rolled her eyes walking out the front door
