Crista's POV
"Crista!!! Hurry up!" Marissa yelled as she quickly hopped out of the car.
"Geez, where's the fire?" I asked, rolling my eyes. Marissa stopped running and turned to me, smiling.
"Right here," she said, gesturing her entire body. "'Cuz I'm so hot."
I rolled my eyes once more and held up my hand, willing a ball of fire to flicker above it.
"Nope, I'm the hot one... literally."
It was her turn to roll her eyes. She proceeded to run to the beach house.
Hi, my name's Crista. Remember me? No? Well then, let me introduce myself once more.
I'm a demigod, daughter of Athena. Yeah, those Greek gods and goddesses are real, along with other mythological stuff. Anyways, if you don't know what a demigod is, we're half human and half god. We get the godly powers of our godly parent but in my case...
I have the gift of every major god.
Weird? Yeah, I know, let me explain:
When my human dad found out what I was, he gave me away to an orphanage that caught on fire and everyone in it died, except for me. Well, I was supposed to be dead but my mom, Athena, saved me and brought me up to Olympus and healed me there. I was also blessed with the gift of every major god so I could survive on my own. I was let down back on Earth where I went off to survive.
That was about 70 or 80 years ago.
Yeah, that long. You see, I stayed at this place called the Lotus Hotel and Casino for quite a while. When you're in there, time seems like it's flowing normally but you're actually stuck there for quite a while. I don't know how to explain it but it's basically Greek myth magicky stuff. So... yeah.
Right now, Marissa and I were off to their family's beach house down at Malibu for a break from work. It was summer, anyways.
I walked up to the house, which was absolutely magnificent, by the way, and headed straight for the kitchen to cook some lunch.
"Hey!" some dude yelled. I turned to the door and saw that the rest of the gang showed up.
"You guys are late!" Marissa complained as she came down the stairs.
"Sorry," Leo said, scratching the back of his head.
"A cute little bunny family that was in the middle of the road kinda delayed us," Percy said, setting down some bags. Jason did the same.
"A bunny family? Seriously?" Marissa asked, placing her hands on her hips.
"Too bad they can't teleport," someone else said. Nico emerged from one of the dark corners of the room. Leo and Percy jumped up into the air.
"Geez, man!" Leo said. "You're gonna give me a freaking heart attack!"
Nico rolled his eyes as he walked towards me, giving me a hug and a kiss on the cheek.
"Hey," he whispered. I rolled my eyes and continued my cooking.
Oh, let me introduce the gang.
Marissa is my best friend. I met her when I moved into Manhattan. We run this little studio where we teach demigods some music stuff. It's kind of a demigod daycare. Despite my b*tchy attitude, she stayed by my side and fought with me to the end. She's like a sister to me. She's the daughter of Aphrodite. Percy, my neighbor back in Manhattan, is a legend. He's like a big brother to me and he's kinda really protective. I love him to death. He's the son of Poseidon and his girlfriend, Annabeth, is also Athena's daughter. We're literally sisters. She's super smart and quick-witted and also really nice. Then there's Jason, son of Zeus, and his girlfriend Piper, daughter of Aphrodite. Jason's actually a Roman demigod. It's a long story but basically, he and Percy switched places because Hera was kinda effed up and now we're all friends. There's also Frank and Hazel, they're also Romans. They hung out with Jason so yeah. Oh, and there's Leo, the son of Hephaestus. He always treats me like a little sister. He's, well...
Don't tell him I said this, but he's really cool.
Then there's Nico. He's my childhood friend, my savior, and my boyfriend. We met back at the Lotus Hotel, along with his older sister, Bianca, though she's not with us anymore. She's probably partying down at Elysium.
"Fried chicken anyone?" I asked, setting down a plate filled with fried chicken on the dining table. Everyone headed there and we all had lunch.
"So what's the pan for tonight?" Annabeth asked.
"Some baby sea turtles are gonna come out of their shells tonight," I said. "We could go out and help get them into the ocean."
"Yes, let's do that!" Percy said enthusiastically.
"Whoa there, Percy, calm down," Hazel said, laughing. "Someone sees super excited to see some turtles."
"I can't help it," Percy said. "They're my people."
"Seaweed Brain," Annabeth and I said at the same time.
Things have been going great so far. Nothing horrible has happened since we left Camp to take a break from the demigod life. We've all had about enough of it anyways with Percy and the others having to go through Hera's BS and Nico coming back from being trapped in a little jar and all that and me going blind and paralyzed twice and stuff, a break was well needed.
"So, what's it like, not being blind?" Percy asked teasingly. I chucked a chicken wing at him and he caught it, rolling his eyes afterwards.
"It's liberating," I said. "I can finally hit Marissa without missing."
"Very funny," Marissa said, rolling her eyes.
"What's it like being the boyfriend of a needy, annoying, little girl?" Leo asked Nico. I raised a brow and sent a death glare his way.
"What did you just call me?" I asked. They all laughed and I ended up letting out annoyed sigh.
Everything was perfect. Nothing could possibly ruin this.
Right?
