For Augustus Waters leaving was hard. He left behind the love of his life Hazel Grace Lancaster. They both struggled with cancer. For Hazel it was in her lungs. Gus it was everywhere . He amputated his leg years before but then his cancer returned.

His best friend is named Alaska. He loses her at the mall of Heaven a lot . He's always "Looking for Alaska".
Each and every night Gus thinks about when he will see the love of his life again , until he does.
It's 2023, Gus is shooting hoops in the park when all of a sudden he sees a tall beautiful woman with a cannula in her nose. He runs to her, faster than any time he ever has. He grasps her into a long passionate kiss that feels like forever. "Hazel Grace welcome to my lovely home" he says . "Oh Augustus , how I've missed you. As they finally reunite he introduced hazel to his friends he realizes he can't find Alaska . " God dammit Alaska , I'm not looking for you again last time you were in my fridge".
