Daddy Dear {Read My Letter}

I remember the times

When you were a hero in my eyes.

Who could have thought

That all of those things were lies?

I remember the times

When you sat me on your shoulders

When I was afraid,

You’d coo at me to keep it together.

But what use are those

Memories now?

When you left,

All my walls came tumbling down.

To keep your baby girl well and happy,

You decided to leave.

Now, how do we live in agony?

I may appear okay.

But inside, I’m not alright.

I cry myself to sleep every night.

Like a sweet lullaby,

My sobs are hummed through closed lips.

I close my eyes tighter,

Hoping you’re beside me when I sleep.

I hear my mother’s silent weeping,

Wondering where you were.

But as I grew older,

I found out you never once did care.

I once thought,

‘How would we ever survive?’

But I’m writing this letter

To let you know that we’re alive.

But as I said, you never cared.

We were never in your heart.

Maybe when you read this,

You’d scoff at it and tear it apart.

But, no matter, we want you to know

We’d forgiven you though

You left us all alone

And we want to tell you:

We still love you so.
