Chapter 9

Kimberly

The rebellion made sense. It did. But every time I looked at the blonde girl I kept thinking about Fitz. What would he do? I'll never know. And it's her fault. Her blue eyes pierced into me with every reason she gave and I wanted to tell her to fuck off but she would probably kill me on that spot. I turned to the boy. He stared me in the eyes with a pleading look. He didn't want to see me die. I guess that made sense. He's probably seen enough death to last a lifetime. If I joined this rebellion, I needed to make sure no one innocent would die. "I'll join. Jemma, Satan and Dol can make up their own minds. But I have conditions. Big ones." Aless raised an eyebrow at me and turned to her girlfriend. They probably didn't know I could tell they were dating but paying attention to them I could see it. The way Emy leaned closer automatically, the way Aless' eyes always flicker back to the blond every few seconds. I knew a million ways to get what I wanted out of Emy now. Get to Aless and Emy will fall into line. But I didn't want to do that. I needed Emy to agree with me but I didn't want to use love against her. I also didn't want to make them not trust me. If that happened I'd never get what I wanted. Emy laughed coldly once. "You don't get to have conditions, kid." I smiled sweetly at her and pulled out a gun. When Mason and Aless ran to help Meg, their attentions had been diverted and I managed to pull a gun out of the back of the couch. It had been hidden under my belt and they were too busy focusing on my facial expressions and my friends to really look at me. I pointed it at Aless.

The brunette looked shocked for about a second before simply staring me down. I wasn't going to put the gun down yet. "Don't even think about pulling a weapon or I will shoot her." Emy was about to say I wouldn't. But she doesn't know me. People underestimate me. Mason looked pissed off. "I don't want to but I will." I couldn't stop my voice from shaking. This wasn't fun. This was possible murder. "Lana. Close your eyes and block your ears." She protested. "Now." My little sister obeyed. Jemma, Sean and Dol got up with me so they were below us. I took in a breath. "I will." Emy raised her hands. She didn't like it. She probably never had to raise her hands in surrender before. She probably didn't expect it from a 15 year old either. "No please. I... What do you want?" She clenched her jaw. Aless sighed shakily and felt like putting the gun down but I couldn't. I had to fight for what I needed. Kill or be killed. "If you don't want me to kill her, these are the conditions to joining the rebellion. I will be treated as a general, NOT a Royal. You will stop killing innocent people. My family has a safety bubble. For each person in my family that dies, I will kill one of you. Starting with Aless. So I suggest you don't kill them. Also, you will let us stay here for free. And you will train us." Aless bit her lip. She knew Emy loved her but would she do this? "Put the gun down." The blond told me. I stepped forward, pressing the barrel onto Aless' forehead. Meg gasped. Emy's eyes were going back and forth between me and the brunette. Mason was staring at me as if I was the monster. I wasn't a monster. I did what I had to do for my family. "Answer me." I demanded. Emy looked up as if needing an answer. "I'll agree to everything but you can't be a general." I clicked the trigger but I had purposely put a blank so it didn't hurt her for real. The sound rang out and Emy cried out. Mason swore and Meg was just crying. I felt like the bad guy. I probably was in this moment. I had no choice. "Next one is not a blank." I said. It was true. A real bullet would go into her head the second I pulled the trigger. It felt cold under my fingertips and I wanted to put the gun down but I couldn't. "Please!" She was begging now. I fought back tears. "I DON'T WANT TO DO THIS, EMY! I HAVE NO CHOICE!" She shook her head. No tears had spilled onto her cheeks yet but I could see the water threatening to spill over. "You have a choice. Put the gun down. I'll agree to everything except for you being a general. If I do that, my Royals will leave the resistance and go on strike because I will look like i don't know what I'm doing. Please." Sean's hand wrapped around my arm. "Give me the gun, Kimber. Take the deal." I leaned against his frame for a second before dropping the gun into his hand and sitting down, putting my head between my knees. What was I becoming?
