Chapter 13
Mason
Kimberly stood in front of me, her fists raised. It was pretty funny. She frowned at me. "Why are you laughing at me?" I laughed a bit more before answering. "You look like you're scared to hit me." After the whole event, Emy had told everyone to get back to training. We gave Kimberly and her friends a pain killer that I knew from experience worked wonders. Until it wore off. But we would handle that when it came. Dol had collapsed onto the floor so he was in the nurses' station but Jemma and Satan were training as well. They had woken up shortly after the whole ordeal, slightly dazed but ok. Satan was partnered up with Harry, while Jemma was with Taya. They were both techs like Kilo used to be, and they had learned about their fellow friend's death only a little while ago. So far, they were keeping it together and i trusted them with the newbies considering they both had good hearts. Kimberly was already sweating and out of breath and I had only knocked her down once. She would need some cardio training as well, although that wasn't my strong point. Aless would have to do that. The last time I worked on cardio against Aless, she outran me by an hour. Running for long periods of time was hell for me. Meg had the classic skill for our family: climbing. She could scale walls without problems, just like my mom could do. She once tried to break into the guard towers and managed to pull out two vials of the cure that we used on Jackson. That boy was 7 years old when he died and it was a sad day for everyone at Royalty. Emy had been so hurt when he died and seeing her love Aless so happily was making me happy but I was terrified. If Aless died, which was a strong possibility, she would give up. I knew she would. I shook out of my thoughts and looked at Kimberly again. She frowned at me and I smiled. "Wanna bet? I bet I could take you down!" I smirked at her. "No, you couldn't." She walked up to me and, because I was NOT prepared, put her foot behind my knee and pulled back, sending me onto my back. I could hear Meg laughing at me from where she was training the little kids. Kimberly's face loomed above me. "Told ya!" I laughed and grabbed her shoulder, pulling her down with me. She hit the ground with a small laugh and pumped her fist in the air. "I still knocked you down!" I laughed and revelled in her smile. She wouldn't be smiling much down here, and I cherished the opportunity to see it. The feeling I was getting was unexplainable but it was in no way love. It couldn't be. I couldn't have a crush on a Havener. No way. Besides, Satan already seemed to like her. She turned to me and winked before getting up and telling me to try again.
Kimberly
Moment of truth. I had a crush on both Mason and Satan and there was NOTHING I could do about it. I mean I tried. Like who was sweeter? Depends when. Who was hotter? Depends when. Who was smarter? I have no clue. It was an impossible choice, not that I had to make it. They probably both didn't like me that way. I had to focus on this rebellion anyway. I had no time to waste. Mason raised his fists and came at me. I managed to dodge his first punch but he swivelled around and hit me in the stomach. I groaned and, while I was hunched over, he moved under me and flipped me over. My back hit the mattress hard and I groaned. His annoyingly handsome face loomed above me and I wanted to wipe that smirk off his face. "This is NOT fair." He laughed and helped me up again. "I thought you said you could beat me two seconds ago!" I pushed against his chest and he laughed that annoyingly perfect laugh of his. "Whatever! You've been trained forever how is this fair?" He shook his head and got back into a fighting stance. "Try. For real. I know you can give me a fair fight." I groaned. My shoulders hurt already and I could only imagine the pain I would get in the morning, especially if the pain killers backfire in the morning. My head was getting dizzy again and I just wanted to sleep. But I guess I couldn't sleep until Mason does so here I am. "I'm exhausted, Mase." He smiled a bit at the use of his nick name but tried to hide it. "Here I have an idea. You perform well under pressure, right?" I shrugged and he ran off to where Meg was trying to teach Lana how to punch as Kay hit a punching bag. I wouldn't want to be the punching bag. He knelt beside Lana and she nodded before he tied up her hands and lifted her off the floor. I protested whatever was going on but he didn't listen. Of course he wouldn't. He was Mason after all. He tied her up to a pole and stood right in front of me. I frowned at him. "Let her go." He smirked. "Fight me to get her down." I shook my head, annoyed but got into my stance.
