Stoking the fire, reasons for life spark unseen.
Slipping into familiar darkness,
standing to embrace it's comfort.
Entwined as limbs reach out to my soul,
accepting caresses of a joyless mistress.
Light receeds into memory as night races by,
Runaway pain.
Selfmade walls close in,
blackened by the smoke of passing.
Nothing behind,
no sight of the future.
Anger sparks and fades to regret,
visions of peace once more come to nothing.
Train of thought runs on,
searching for silence of an end that never comes.
