Aubree

"Ms. Stevens, do you care to tell me why you're so late?"

I pondered for a while, thinking of an excuse.

"My car broke down", I said simply. Truthfully? I'd irresponsibly slept in and was, as always, late for school.

The dragon-like teacher glared at me, turning back to her ancient chalkboard and scribbling instructions on it's dark green surface.

I took a seat at the back of the classroom, grabbing my books and pencil case from my black, badge-covered backpack and looking up at the board.

The words "Pen pal" were scrawled across the board, students immediately erupted in murmurs, the teacher shushing them after only a few seconds.

"This term", she said, "you will be assigned pen pals, all the way from London. Of course, the school doesn't have enough money to post thirty letters from Manchester to London every week, so you'll be using E-mails"

Feelings of excitement and nervousness flowed through my veins, combining into an emotion that was so annoyingly common, yet indescribable.

Slips of paper were slowly handed out, holding the emails we'd been assigned, as the teacher had told us before she gave us the papers.

I looked at mine, reading danisnotonfire@gmail.com.

What sort of an email was that?

My thoughts of the strange email were interrupted when the dragon-lady (yes, I mean our teacher) spoke up.

"You all have an email to write to. I expect you will have written by tonight"

I looked back down at the paper in my hands.

What a strange name for an email address.

Hey frens

Please don't attack me, I understand how unlikely it would be that this could happen in regards to Aubree getting Dan's E-mail but whatever, I'm hoping the book turns out well.

So this was the shortest chapter ever, usually I write 1000 word chapters but I think the chapters in this book will always be quite short.

I hope you enjoyed this! I'm so excited for what's to come. Please leave a vote if you did enjoy this, and a comment would make my day, note that I wont say a chapter has to get 23.6 votes for me to update like some authors do (if you do that, I totally respect you but dude) and I'm just going to be updating whenever I can.
