Moving On?: Brick

You sat on your couch, watching another crappy romantic movie. You've been crying & shutting everyone out after Brick cheated on you. You thought he was different but you were wrong. You only felt anger & pain. Nothing else. Bell & your other friends couldn't even find a way to cheer you up. They tried to take you somewhere, buy you some nice things & even look for another guy but you declined them all. You just wanted to be alone.

You then heard your phone ring so you wiped your tears away. Not to mention, your voice cracked when you talk & it was also hoarse. You looked at the caller ID & saw Alfred's name. You growled & quickly picked up.

You: Al, for the last time, I'm not going to one of your damned parties!

Matthew: I-I'm sorry if I b-bothered you (y/n)...

You calmed down when you heard someone else. It was Matthew. Alfred's shy & quiet brother.

You: Oh...I'm sorry Mattie...

Matthew: It's OK (y/n). I just wanted to know if you wouldn't mind if I c-come over d-do you?

You wanted to say no but you just had enough of the silence. You sighed.

You: Of course Matt.

Matthew: G-Great! I-I mean...that's cool. I'll be there in a f-few.

You said goodbye & hanged up. You got off of the couch to get ready. You didn't want to look like trash in front of Matthew. You washed your face & brushed your hair then put on a t-shirt & shorts. You went back to your living room to dispose all the scattered tissues & empty containers of ice cream. You then heard a knock so you quickly opened the door. Matthew was standing there & smiled at you. You smiled back but it wasn't a cheerful smile. It was a fake smile & Matthew knew it.

You: Come in Matt.

You let him in & made him sit on the couch. You went to the kitchen to get something for you & Matthew to drink. You went back to the living room & put the drinks on the coffee table. You sat next to Matthew & sighed. Matthew had been worried sick about you since Alfred told him that you always declined on going to his parties. Matthew had a small crush on you but since you were taken by Brick, he knew that he didn't have a chance anymore but now, he does.

Matthew: (y-y/n)?

You 'hmm'ed in reply & looked at him. He gulped & started to fidget his fingers.

Matthew: I uh...w-wanted to tell you s-something...

You: Spit it Matt.

Matthew: Uh...

He tried looking at you in the eye but he felt more nervous & stuttered even more.

Matt: I...I like you!

Matthew covered his mouth with his hand. You, on the other hand, were shocked by this. He sighed & looked at his lap.

Matthew: I-I understand i-if you don't l-like me back...

You smiled softly & hugged him from the side. He tensed up but then relaxed.

You: I think...you can help me move on Mattie.

You smiled & kissed his cheek which turned bright red.
