It was a sunshiny day blessed with sprinkles of fox rain. Levi waited next to the altar. He saw his blushing bride smiling back at him. His all white ceremonial military uniform blended well with the clouds. He waited and longed for her arrival. If this was not the best dream he had, he did not know what it was. The time he pined for finally came and he also woke up from his fantasies, wishing... it was her.
That night the former king, Fyble Arthur visited Levi and he was carrying a baby, a new born baby.
"He has the same name as yours, his mom insisted," the former king told him. Fyble carefully handed the baby while Levi's arms and hands were a bit shaking out of nervousness and excitement. He slowly figured out how to hold the baby properly but it just happened miraculously, like the new life that was being warmed in his arms. This tiny creature, his bundle of joy. He broke down.
Fyble held back his tears, it was touching but also very heartbreaking.
Eighteen years passed. The current king and queen dedicated the rest of their lives rotating the duties of the three main military branches and sharing the skills of the elite soldiers of the Royal Regiment, since Frau kept his position as the Chief Commander.
After the coronation of Milena Allen, the crowned princess disappeared during the royal ball, while everybody was enjoying the celebration. The crescent moon looked after the wandering princess, strutting her heels around the castle garden and her royal blue gown blossomed in the dark. But she was not the only one enjoying the refreshing chilly night breeze.
"I've always wondered," she blurted out. The elite royal soldier did not move an inch. She stole his wine and drank from it but it was stolen from her. It was so fast she did not even know what happened. She smiled, impressed. The soldier recognized her majesty, her long blonde wavy hair, blue innocent eyes that matched the stars above, and her luscious lips. "Your majesty, you need to go back," - "yes I will go back with you," she interrupted and dragged him inside the castle.
The crowd gave way for the princess and were dumbfounded to see an elite royal soldier being yanked by the majesty. "As I was saying," she continued while they stop in the middle of the dance hall. The orchestra smoothly transitioned to a sweeter tune.
"I really haven't seen a soldier from The Regiment dance with anyone," she whispered to him. All eyes were at the two, especially the king. "You smell so good," the princess complimented the soldier. The masked soldier just kept his dancing skills at par with the graceful princess.
The royals and the aristocrats were magically transported when the effervescent princess and voguish death angel danced as if they were the only people in the world. The princess was enchanted, and so was the anticipating crowd. The princess held the soldier closer to hers and before the end of the music she slyly removed his mask and hood then kissed him bravely, on the lips.
The crowd gasped and the two highest royalties were shocked, especially the queen who just arrived.
So many breaths were taken away. His dashing looks and sex appeal was too much to bare. Frau was a bit confused and mad not just because the general was disguised as an elite soldier, but his lips were touching his daughter's lips.
The queen wanted to run to him and hug him to cover those lost years. She just stared at him longingly, holding back every emotions buried deep inside her for eighteen years. All she could do was to suffer in silence.
He pulled away from her lips, and sweetly gave an apology. He took and placed his mask on then walked away leaving the princess and everyone in wonder and mystery. The queen left the hall and the king stood up then gave a hand signal to the royal servants to give them privacy.
"My lord, please... just let me talk to him just once... please... I'm begging you," the queen was down on her knees. It was the first time Frau saw her cry that hard again after eighteen years.
Frau gave the queen one whole day to visit the Royal Regiment headquarters outside the walls. Mikasa followed the general in her most subtle way. She wanted to observe him first from afar. While lurking and watching him in the shadows, she was led to a garden full of red roses. She felt a bit jealous.
In a far garden, the general spoke out, "Come closer, you don't have to be shy." He knew that someone was following him and Mikasa timidly walked to his direction. The general knelt and removed the weeds and crawling vines then placed a red rose on the ground. He got up and said a prayer. Curious, Mikasa came closer and looked down. Her knees gave up, her tears fell and reached the tombstone with an engraved name of Levi Ackerman.
Mikasa's wedding day flashed back in her mind, the first time she received flowers from Levi, a bouquet of red roses. It was lousily arranged but the sweetest thing ever.
The young man was still very puzzled of what was truly happening. Her hands shook as she revealed herself, pulling down the hood. The general's eyes widened seeing the queen weeping her heart out on his father's graveyard.
As if his knees were hit by the queen's tears he suddenly knelt down and took her in his arms, calming her down. "Corporal..." she sobbed. "My queen," he uttered with his familiar deadpan voice, she totally lost it. "Levi..." and she moaned his name again and again as her tears fell endlessly. The general cupped her face and wiped her tears away.
