In the three seconds it took for Black Star to reach the pale man, anything could have gone through his mind. Something like...
"Maybe this isn't a good idea!"
Or
"Maybe I should think about this!"
Or
"A sandwich would be good right now."
But none of these thoughts went through his mind. All Black Star could think was that he was going to beat this guy and find the Enchanted Sword. So, as he sprinted toward this man, he only had one second to realize that the man was the Enchanted Sword. This time, though, one second wasn't enough time. Before Black Star could back away, he realized for once in his life that the opponent standing in front of him was beyond his power to defeat. He had no time to process this thought before he heard a slash and everything went white.
