Dark And Dreary

On one night, so dark and dreary
Through the woods so eerie
Ran a man oh so weary
From the shadows of darkness aerie.

To the house upon that hill
He heard a screech oh so shrill
It gave him quite the chill.

He quivered from the fright
As the wind howled through the night
As the moon shone no light
His fears he could not smite.

'Twas it fate?
For his fear so great
To lead him to this old estate.

Oh on this dreary night
And of this folly fright
In the house there came a light
To save this man from his flight.
