-Amber's POV-

After I finished watching the concert, my knee started throbbing more than it did before. I took a couple of painkillers a half hour ago. I went downstairs to get some more. I waited for it to kick in, but it didn't help. I looked at my knee as it started to swell up and pulsing like it had its own heartbeat. I also started to feel extremely light-headed and very dizzy. I didn't know what to do. I went straight to my mom, holding onto the hallway walls, trying not to fall. I called out to her as I was struggling with no results. I went into her room, but she was already asleep. I didn't care if I woke her up. I needed to get to the hospital. As I grasped the wall for balance, I flipped the light switch on and tried to catch my breath as much as possible.

"Mom! We need to go to the hosp...."

(THUD)

I felt my knee give out and fell straight to the floor.

AMBER? That was the last thing I heard.

I woke up in a blur, lights blaring in my eyes, making it unbearable. People were all around me, calling my name and trying to ask me questions. I had an oxygen mask on, hearing a slow beeping noise coming from a machine. I thought I wasn't going to make it. We got to the hospital, they lifted the stretcher out of the ambulance and started wheeling me into the hospital. I could move my head to look around, but I could barely. All I was able to make out visually was a man above my head, pushing me down the hallway with people yelling all around me. I didn't know what was going on. I was able to hear some noises, but it was all muffled. The only thing on my mind was the boys and if I would see James again. I felt a single tear roll down my cheek.

Hurry up, we're losing her.

Her blood pressure is going down.

Her heartbeat is slowing down.

Over the yelling, I heard I'm right here I love you.

It was James, I tried to look around to find him, but he wasn't there.

The next thing I saw was black.

I woke up in a room where the ceiling was covered with paintings of butterflies, clouds, flowers, and rainbows. I turned my head slowly around the room, spotting my mom sleeping on the chair in the corner. There were many "Get Well" balloons, flowers, and cards at the end of my bed. I looked at my arm; there was a needle that was connected to a clear liquid bag. I covered my arm right away. I looked down at my knee and saw a cast from the middle of my thigh to my toes. I tried to remember what happened. It was a complete blur. I checked my phone to see if I got any calls or texts. There were so many messages from the boys. I looked back at my mom as she was starting to wake up.

"Hi, sweetie. How are you holding up?"

"What's going on? Where am I?"

She took a deep breath, and she started to choke up.

"You collapsed in my room."

She was holding my hand and crying. I put my hand on her cheek to wipe the tears away. While holding her hand, I heard the door open to my room. I saw a doctor and a nurse walking towards my bed.

"Hi, Amber. My name is Dr. Martin; I am your personal doctor. If you need anything, I will be the one to call whenever you need help."

I looked at him, confused. "Personal doctor?"

"Yes. One of your friends... I think their name was Logan... requested a personal doctor for you, so if you need anything, I will be here immediately."

My mom couldn't hold back and blurted out, "Well, what are her results?"

I looked at Dr. Martin in pain.

"Well... you broke your leg. And shattered your kneecap."

I didn't say a thing. All I did was nod my head. I also felt more tears running down my face. I wiped it off before my mom saw me crying.

The first thing that came to my mind was, "Will I still be able to be with my boyfriend?"

He looked at me like I wasn't able to at all. But all of a sudden, he said, "Of course you can."

I took a deep breath and threw my head back on my pillow in relief. Dr. Martin left the room, and I leaned over and grabbed my phone. Just as I was gonna call James, he was calling me.

"Mom, don't say anything to James. I don't want him to know anything."

"Okay. Just don't lie to him."

I answered my phone. Luckily, it wasn't a Facetime call.

"Hey, babe."

"Hey! How are you doing? Did you get your leg checked?"

"Yeah, I'm doing good. My leg is a lot better. It was so minor. It hurt at first, but I'm doing much better."

My mom tapped my arm and whispered to me to tell the truth. I nodded my head no and shooed her away.

"Everything okay, sweetie?"

"Yeah, babe. I just have to get going. Good luck at your concert. Love you."

I hung up so quickly. I took a breath and looked over at my mom, glaring at me.

"I didn't want to tell him what was truly happening with a huge concert tonight. He needs to be on his A game."

"That's not cool."

" Cool or not, I don't want him to know. I will tell him later."

"Whatever. I'm gonna go get some food."

She kissed me on the forehead and walked out of my room. I grabbed my phone and called Logan.

"Hey, Chika. How are you?"

"Good. I need to talk to you, but make sure James isn't near you."

"Okay, give me one second. Hey, boys, I'll be right back!"

You can hear him scurrying across the room and closing the door.

"Okay... what's going on? Are you okay?"

"Not really. I have a broken leg and a shattered kneecap. My entire leg is in a cast."

"WHAT!!"

"Shhh! Don't yell! I don't want James to know."

"Sorry... are you okay?"

"Yeah. I'll be okay. Luckily, I'm still able to come on tour with you."

"That's good. We'll figure something out to work with what's going on. Look, I have to go. We're about to go on stage. I'll check in with you later. Love you, sis."

"Love ya tooyouKick butt tonight."

I started to cry tears of happiness. I looked at my phone, seeing a picture of James and me on my lock screen. While looking at the picture, I felt a smile grow on my face. Just as I was about to text James to wish him luck, a nurse walked in and told me I was free to go. She took my oxygen mask off, took the needle out of my arm, and put a bandage over the injection area. I got a chance to sit up and use the crutches to leave the hospital, but I chose to ride in the wheelchair so I knew I wouldn't fall. I knew then that tomorrow I'd be on a plane to be with my boyfriend.
