It wasn't some weird kind of joke that Joan Arcs' full name was "Joan O. F. Arcs". Her parents were major history buffs and blessed their daughter with the name of one of their favourite heroes, Joan of Arc. Joan grew up with so much knowledge of the heroine that she began to develop some of the traits that Joan of Arc had once shown. Which explains why Scott McCall and his pack wanted someone as brave, tactical, and intelligent as her. But it didn't explain why Stiles Stilinski always tried to outdo her, almost like King Charles VII.
