I slipped into the dress Jennie had picked out for me, then hurried to my makeup table to do my hair and makeup. I applied a light, natural makeup with medium-smokey eyeshadow and a medium-pink matte lipstick.

"Ah, thankfully I haven't forgotten this one," I muttered as I grabbed a pair of normal human contact lenses. My crystal amber eyes looked supernatural, so I always wore lenses to hide them. My father kept me well-stocked with fresh pairs.

I took a good look in the mirror and realized I was wearing the same type of dress I had sworn I wouldn't wear again—a strapless dress. "Holy Cheesios... Not again. This is not making any difference!" I facepalmed and muttered under my breath.

The door to my room suddenly opened, and my dad stuck his head in. He quickly closed his eyes when he saw my dress. My eyes shot open as I quickly covered my upper chest with my hands.

"Appa!!" I cried out in disbelief. My father half-stumbled as he tried to get out and quickly closed the door.

"Why are you wearing that?"

"It's not my fault! Jennie chose it for me for tonight's party!" I shouted back in exasperation.

"Well tough luck—"

HONK!

"They're here, honey!" My dad shouted from downstairs. I started to panic as I grabbed my purse and raced down the stairs.

"Wait!!" I wailed as I ran. "Why are they so ear—"

"You were upstairs for five hours, and now it's 7:30 pm," my dad shouted, emerging from the kitchen with his apron and his favorite spatula. I stopped mid-sentence and looked at him with furrowed eyebrows and a sad face.

"You look like a mother who is cooking," I half-whined.

"Well, this is your favorite daddy, hun," he replied, mimicking my tone. "Now come and eat; you can bring along your—"

HONK!

"I guess they need me... I'm sorry, but I have to hold on, Dad."

"Yes!—Um, I mean, oh no... I guess it's okay," he said, his initial excitement giving way to a poorly feigned sadness. It was like he was happy I was leaving but pretended to be sad.

I narrowed my eyes at him. "So you're chasing me out?"

He started to panic. "Oh no no no no no!" He looked very guilty and began walking up to me. Obviously, I faked being hurt because he's always like this. "The food just burnt because I was too absorbed in the new series of Scarlet Heart," he confessed.

I burst out laughing at his guilty expression. His face instantly changed to seriousness, and he clicked his tongue. "Aigoo, this kid. Come on, just go, you're going to be late," he half-whined. Now he really acted like a father. How cute.
