Enjoy~
Marceline never really realized how big the candy castle was. Bubblegum had rooms here and rooms there. Heck, there were rooms at every corner. It could practically hold all of the candy citizens if needed be.
Though the vampire seemed bothered by the place and it wasn't because it was owned by Bonnibel. It was the fact that it kind of reminded her of her of her old home, the one that her father owns in the Nightosphere. Well, except for that this castle was much brighter compared to the dark eerie place that she once resided in.
"Here we are," the pink haired girl said pushing her door open; revealing a room filled with glasses, beakers, and other sorts of containers that had god knows what in them.
They just walked in, eyeing interesting things. She had desks that had piles of papers filled with equations and boring paragraphs talking about hypothesis's, and other desks that had beakers placed upon them. It was a sight to see indeed; just so typical of the kingdoms Brainiac.
"Okay, let me make this sound as simple as possible," she began, showing us some old documents with a serious face. "Over the past hundreds of years, there seems to be a random shift in dimensions. In these records, my late relatives started to record these shifts, seeing as they might lead up to something, whether if it was good or bad."
She then started showing them different paperwork's that didn't really appeal to the young vampire. In fact, Marceline didn't really understand it at all. It was just written gibberish to her.
"Over time, we started to understand and calculated when these dimensions come into play. We then realized that it happens almost every decade or longer."
"Weird," Finn responded.
"Indeed it is," she spoke.
"This is where you guys come in. This so called shift is currently happening as we speak and I seemed to have located different areas where it might be." The girl then handed the group of kids a piece of paper. Finn took it in response and looked over the thing. Written on it were different locations and places. The list wasn't that long and Marceline was great full for that.
"Uhm peebles, do you know how long it will stay open?" Jake asked curiously while tapping at a container filled with something green.
"Well, I can't say for sure. They don't usually stay open for a same period of time. Some records indicate that it can stay open for days; others say it stays open for weeks, or even months. Let's just hope this time, it stays open long enough for me to test it out."
The girl then grabbed her paperwork and shuffled them neatly on the table. Afterwards, a smile started to form on her face. It wasn't a typical girly smile she would normally show, but a wide one that probably could scare off candy kids.
"This shift could change our whole thought process and how we come about things in our daily lives. Questions could be answered and new ones might come up. Isn't this exciting?" She said, heavily breathing. They all knew Bubblegum only wanted it for her own scientific pleasure. You could practically see her drool with excitement.
"So, what you're saying is that we could break scientific history if we found this thing?" Marceline asked with a smirk, only get a nod from the pinkster. "Cool."
The group then nodded at one another, silently agreeing to the mission. This will be quite interesting, the red eyed girl thought.
"Though," the scientist started, "something does worry me." The girl's brows furrowed at the thoughts that seemed to play her mind.
"What is it?" Finn asked the troubled girl.
"Well, when these shifts started to take place, they seemed to have originated in the Nightosphere."
Marceline showed no reaction towards the girl's words. To her, something irregular always happens in that place. "So what, what does that matter?" The vampire asked.
PB started to think of her words carefully. "Well... These things actually at one point, opened up more frequently over there, like... how should I say," The girl pondered. "They opened up like an unlocked door. It is almost as if these things were created by a something or someone. I can't tell you for sure though."
Finn was having a hard time trying to understand Bubblegum's words. The boy may be skilled in fighting, but lacks in understanding things. "Wait, wait, wait," he began as he pressed his fingers on the temples of his forehead. "So, what you're saying is that something was just passing through a magical door like it was nothing and that door happens to be another dimension?"
"Correct, and that is what worries me. Such a portal could affect us in some horrible ways if it was handled harshly." The group had serious expressions plastered though out their faces. It seemed like the more they knew, the more dangerous it sounded.
"The thing is... What kind of being would be powerful and smart enough to create such a thing?" The pink haired girl continued with her thumb and index finger placed on her chin, giving her a thinking look.
Marceline, at this point were in her own thoughts. She started to think about theories as to why a portal would appear in a place like the Nightosphere, and who would conjure up such a thing. Her mind drifted to different creatures and different people, but nothing seemed to fit the picture.
"Marceline? Hello?" A small hand waved in front of the pail girl's face. At that moment, her mind came back to reality. "W-what?" was all she said.
"It's time to go," Said the boy. "Alright PB, we will find this portal thingy and contact you immediately if we see it!" The blue boy then saluted the princess followed by Jake doing the same thing. The vampire on the other hand didn't do much. She just watched her two friends be the total weirdo's that they are.
Afterwards, they began to say their goodbyes and started their mission.
